Former President Donald Trump lashed out at Georgia Democrats and their alleged Republican allies in a fierce statement issued Thursday in defense of Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
At issue is an effort by Georgia Democrats to disqualify Greene from running for reelection in the November race. The effort is part of what legal expert Jonathan Turley calls “a new movement to defend democracy by denying it.”
On Monday, this effort “received a huge boost from a judge in Georgia who has allowed a challenge to knock [her] off the ballot as an insurrectionist,” Turley reported in The Hill on Thursday.

On Friday, Marjorie Taylor Greene will argue that she should not be disqualified from the ballot at a hearing in front of Judge Amy Totenberg, @NinaTotenberg’s sister.

“Judge Amy Totenberg ruled that critics could potentially strip Greene from the ballot due to her public comments before and after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot in Congress. Totenberg ruled that Greene’s critics could bring a challenge under the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, known as the ‘Disqualification Clause,'” he wrote.
“This is the same clause cited by some liberal members of Congress and legal experts as a way to bar dozens of Republicans, including former President Trump, from office for allegedly engaging in insurrection against the United States or giving aid and comfort to its enemies,” he continued.
Trump seemingly referenced this effort in his statement Thursday. He also bashed top Georgia Republicans like Gov. Brian Kemp and suggested that they’re working in tandem with Democrats to unseat Greene.

“The Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, and Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, perhaps in collusion with the Radical Left Democrats, have allowed a horrible thing to happen to a very popular Republican, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene,” he said.
“She is now going through hell in their attempt to unseat her, just more of an election mess in Georgia, including the fact that they will still allow easily corruptible Ballot Boxes for all to cheat with, and have not been able to get a little thing called ‘Signature Verification’ approved,” he continued.
The rest of the statement continued with Trump going on about the 2020 presidential election and urging Georgia Republicans to vote against Kemp in the 2022 Georgia gubernatorial race.
“Unlike other Republicans, this Governor does everything possible to hurt the voting process in Georgia, including his approval of a disastrous Consent Decree, and not calling a Special Session that was requested by Georgia’s Republican Senators. He absolutely refused. Both of those failures were a disaster for the Republican Party, and for our Country,” he said.
“Even the ‘True the Vote’ people, great patriots, who will soon announce massive Ballot Harvesting in Georgia and other States, said Kemp was the worst of all Governors to deal with — he didn’t want to do anything to help with finding this massive Ballot Harvesting fraud,” he said.
“Brian Kemp should be voted out of office — vote for David Perdue. REMEMBER, Brian Kemp will never be able to win the General Election against Stacey ‘The Hoax’ Abrams because a large number of Republicans just will not vote for him,” he added.
As for Greene, she spoke about her ordeal during an appearance Monday on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” The appearance occurred hours after Totenberg issued her ruling.

“To protect myself, I have to go to court on Friday and actually be questioned about something i’ve never been charged with and something I was completely against, and so this is how far it’s going,” she said.
“These leftists, these progressives who would rather have the judge or bureaucrats making decisions instead of voters. They want to hand that over to them and not let the people in my district even have the right to vote for me.”
Like Trump, she too bashed the Republican Party.
“The Republican Party needs to fight harder, Tucker. You know, there’s something that I have learned, and I think that this is really important. If you can challenge any representative’s candidacy or elected officeholder, then I bet you we could round up some Republican voters who didn’t like Kamala Harris funding rioters, criminal rioters out of jail, or Ilhan Omar, or Cori Bush, or Maxine Waters inciting riots.”
In other words, she called for doing something Republicans rarely do, which is fighting fire with fire …
