Trump hits back at claim he ‘changed his mind’ on H-1B visas

A recent inter-party debate on legal immigration and H-1B visas had reporters asking President-elect Donald Trump whether he’s “changed his mind” on the topic.

Trump discussed this with a gaggle of reporters ahead of his New Year’s celebration, hitting back at the idea that he’s changed his stance on importing workers from other countries.

Watch:

“I didn’t change my mind. I’ve always felt we have to have the most competent people in our country. We need competent people. We need smart people coming into our country,” he insisted. “We need a lot of people coming in. We’re going to have jobs like we’ve never had before.”

Eric Daugherty followed that clip up with a couple more that back up Trump’s claim that he has long been pro-legal immigration.

It remains to be seen if he will make any changes to the visa process once he is back in office, or if he will largely focus on staunching the unending flow of illegal immigrants first.
