Trump indictment bad for Hillary: ‘Is the statute of limitations up?’

As news of former President Donald Trump’s indictment on federal charges over the alleged mishandling of classified documents sweeps social media, Twitter is convulsing with a case of “whataboutism” that is adding up to a PR nightmare for Hillary Clinton.

“Hillary” began trending on Twitter not long after the indictment came down, with furious users reminding the world that the former Secretary of State played fast and loose with classified materials and no one at the Department of Justice (DOJ) seemed to care.

“Remembering [former FBI Director] James Comey’s exoneration of Hillary Clinton’s classified document obstruction saying: ‘No reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case…'” Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) tweeted on Thursday evening. “Corrupt double standard?”

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) asked, “How is it Hillary Clinton can delete 33,000 government emails on a private server yet President Trump gets indicted for having documents he could declassify?”

“If Trump announced tomorrow that he isn’t running in 2024, this would all go away,” he stated.

Popular Twitter account, DC Draino, didn’t stop at naming Hillary but provided a long list of those caught with classified materials.

“Bill Clinton took home classified docs. Bush took home classified docs. Obama took home classified docs. Pence took home classified docs. Hillary Clinton had classified docs on her email server. Biden had classified docs in his garage,” he noted. “Trump is the only one that gets indicted.”

Trump’s rival for the GOP presidential nomination, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called the “zealous” pursuit of Trump a “mortal threat” to our nation.

“The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society,” DeSantis wrote. “We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation. Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter?”

“The DeSantis administration will bring accountability to the DOJ, excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all,” he vowed.

According to commentator Stephen Miller, we are witnessing political theater.

“Comey found stripped classified material on a laptop of the husband of Hillary Clinton’s closest aide, who didn’t have a security clearance & was sexting 15 year olds, and he went like ‘Yeah we’re not pressing charges here,'” he tweeted.

“Everything about the Trump indictment is political,” Miller continued. “And everyone in media *knows* it. Just pay attention to who cares or not.”

For many, frustration with the DOJ’s blatant hypocrisy is boiling over.

“Serious question is the statute of limitations up on indicting Hillary Clinton or is it just a lack of balls!” exclaimed one user.

“They’re charging Trump with Hillary’s crimes because they don’t think they can beat him in 2024,” tweeted Sean Davis, CEO and co-founder of The Federalist.

“When will Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden be indicted?” asked Lib of TikTok founder Chaya Raichik.

As for Trump, he believes the indictment is nothing short of “election interference at the highest level,” according to a Thursday interview with Fox News Digital.

Now criminally charged with at least seven counts involving obstruction of justice, conspiracy, and illegal retention of classified government material, Trump said it is “the greatest witch hunt of all time.”

“This is the most corrupt administration in history—there has never been an administration so corrupt, and they’re just starting to find it right now,” Trump told Fox News Digital.

“They are trying to deflect all of their dishonesty by bringing this ridiculous boxes hoax case,” Trump added. “They’re not going to get away with it.”
