Trump says he wouldn’t give Mexican president ’10 cents’ following demand of $20 billion to shut down border

Not a dime.

That’s what former President Donald Trump would give to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador after the Mexican leader demanded on CBS’s “60 Minutes” that America fork over $20 billion to shut down his nation’s border with the U.S.

“He said he wants $10 billion essentially just to talk, $10 billion to talk, and that’s come out since, and no, that wouldn’t happen with me, with the wall,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade on Fox’s “One Nation.”

López Obrador’s extortionary asks include “lifting sanctions on Cuba and Venezuela; sending Latin American and Caribbean countries $20 billion in aid a year; and granting legal status to Mexican illegal immigrants in the U.S.,” Fox News Digital reports.

The “flow of migrants will continue,” Mexico’s president stated, unless the Biden administration bows to his demands.

According to Trump, the outrageous stipulations are a testament to how world leaders view President Joe Biden.

“It’s very simple: lack of respect for the president,” he said. “They would never say that to me. They would never say, before we even talk, they want $10 billion a year. Mexico just asked for $10 billion a year. They would never ask it. I wouldn’t give them 10 cents.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) hit back at López Obrador’s laundry list of wants after the “60 Minutes” interview aired, calling it “absurd.”

“President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s policy suggestion for securing the U.S. border is absurd,” he wrote on X. “The truth is that we face a security and humanitarian catastrophe at the southern border that is killing Americans and destroying our communities.”

“Meanwhile, the President of Mexico is coddling cartels and demanding the United States bankroll even more mass migration into our country,” he continued. “President Biden needs to confront the fact that employing leverage, as President Trump did, and not empty rhetoric, is the only way to compel Mexico to do its important part in securing the border.”

“We should be using every tool at our disposal to secure our border and stem the flow of aliens into the United States, including the Migrant Protection Protocols,” he stated. “And we should be bringing every bit of leverage to compel the Mexican government to cooperate.”

The stakes in November couldn’t be higher, Trump said.

“The most important day in the history of our country is going to be November 5th,” Trump told Kilmeade. “Our country is going bad, and it’s going to be changed on November 5th, and if it’s not changed, we’re not going to have a country anymore.”

The word some X users are using to describe López Obrador’s demands is “blackmail.”

“Our @POTUS is so weak, Mexico is trying to blackmail us,” said one.

“Get the money from your cartel friends,” another user told López Obrado. “Mexico is a corrupt 3rd world sh*t hole. Unfortunately it’s on our border.”

“Mexico is trying to hold our southern border for ransom,” wrote one user. “Abso-freakin-loutely not!”
