The disconnect between Washington, D.C., the leftist cultural elite, and real America couldn’t be more clear when it comes to Ukraine and the blind support of politicians continuing to pour money into the war-torn country at a time when many in their own nation are in desperate need.
While the preening of elected leaders during their orgy of worship for the diminutive, military fatigue-clad Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before a joint session of Congress this week left many feeling nauseous, it was the virtue signaling of celebrity chef Rachael Ray that really triggered a gag reflex.
In a USA Today column, the Food Network star and entrepreneur lectured Americans that it was their “moral imperative” to unwaveringly support Ukraine through the “bitter winter” even as this week’s frigid temperatures have combined with economic misery to inflict a devastating one-two punch on those in need right here in the homeland.
'We have a moral imperative to stand with Ukrainians to fight in any and every way possible and for as long as it takes,' Rachael Ray writes in @USATODAY https://t.co/tVtNF3i0Vz

“We have a moral imperative to stand with Ukrainians to fight in any and every way possible and for as long as it takes. Funding is in jeopardy with the outcome of midterm elections. We need to have President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s back going into this coming year, as the fight gets harder and with the bitter cold of winter joining the war,” wrote Ray.
“Slava Ukraini and God bless America. May we find peace for all in the new year before us,” she added.
“There is so much need in Ukraine right now. Their struggle is our struggle. They are our friends and allies, and you don’t forget your friends. If we keep the Ukrainian people in our hearts and minds, if we keep their fight and their plight on our lips and in our conversations, we protect our own hopes and priorities as well. They are fighting for us, too. You can see it all, in their eyes,” Ray wrote in her column, along with links to several NGOs to which those who are inclined can donate money.
Twitter users served up their reactions without any sugarcoating.
I will take this seriously when the border is truly secure, when homeless have been housed, when drug addicts are in treatment, when there are no more people living in makeshift “tent cities” in the middle of towns. Curious why nobody feels a “moral imperative” for US citizens?

This is gross! There’s literally starving children/families HERE in America.
Standing for America is my “moral imperative”.

What about the moral imperative to help our citizens here at home? Families are struggling to make ends meet – feed their families, heat or cool their homes…

I would love to hear the reasoning for why we need to support the Ukraine in a way that actually makes sense and is not just claiming it is a moral imperative or defending democracy. Historically Ukraine even according to mainstream media is highly corrupt and flawed

How about using that money for our own Military or our Veterans? I think the cooking spray fumes have finally gotten to you.

Do you plan to arm up and fight?
For generations, mine has. Son included.
Who do you think you are?

I am not going to take political advice from a chef. But you can tell me how to brine a turkey.

Yeah…I get my views on foreign policy from a chef.

You can’t even make a cat food that doesn’t make my cats ill. Maybe work on that first.

I hear Zelensky will cash a personal check.

Take your opinion and stuff it in a casserole.

How about supporting hard working Oil & Gas workers who, after decades of providing energy, can’t find work and need to transition to renewable energy careers to keep their house and feed their families?

Then go to Ukraine and fight. For as long as it takes. Or does the “we” not include “you”? Either way, our tax money should stay home.

When I see you lugging a .50 cal through bitter cold weather on the front line of a ‘hot conflict’ I’ll give you the time of day for your ‘moral’ imperative. If you agree to incur the cost for every soldiers family that dies because of this moral war, then you can preach to us.

I’m going to need to get Emeril’s take on it as well before I know for sure what I think.
— Jeff Naylor (@jdnaylor) December 23, 2022
No we do not. That is not OUR country. We have already given them more than enough of our own tax dollars AND military equipment. We do NOT ‘need’ to keep funding their own little war.
