Uncle of Uvalde victim wants nephew’s name kept out of calls for gun control: ‘We don’t take to gun reform’

As Democrats respond to the senseless shooting in Uvalde, Texas, with a predictable assault on the 2nd Amendment, the uncle of young Uziyah Garcia, killed in the rampage at Robb Elementary School, wants his nephew’s name left out of the political push for stricter gun control laws.

“So, I just want the world to know we are responsible gun owners,” Mitch Renfro told “Fox & Friends First” on Wednesday. “We don’t take to gun reform.”

“I don’t want Uziyah’s name to be used in any gun reform or any gun change, gun laws that need to be changed, nothing along the lines of that,” he said.

It took mere moments from the first reports of the mass shooting for Democrats to begin their calls for bans on weapons and ammunition.

As Texas Governor Greg Abbott was holding a press conference just one day after the incident, Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke used the moment for a campaign stunt.

“The time to stop the next shooting is now, and you are doing nothing,” O’Rourke hurled at Abbott, adding that the shooting “was totally predictable.”

President Biden has since come out and said that there’s “no rational basis” for owning a 9mm gun.

And following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s proposed nationwide ban on handguns, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden is looking at taking “executive actions” to force gun reforms.

“The president has made his position clear: The United States needs to act,” Jean-Pierre said. “As I just laid out, he supports a ban on sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and expanded background checks to keep guns out of the dangerous hands.”

And while she noted that Biden doesn’t “support a ban on the sale of all handguns,” she did say he is “looking at other executive actions that we can possibly do.”

Uziyah’s family would prefer to see school teachers well armed.

“We need more resources in our schools when it comes to security,” Renfro said. “Let’s arm our teachers, give them that right to protect the child at all costs.”

“Our children are our greatest asset,” the grieving uncle stated. “They’re the next leaders of the world. We should protect them to the fullest.”

Reacting to Renfro’s comments was a new opportunity for some to show they’ll go as low as it takes to promote their agenda — even if it means disparaging a family in mourning.

As if using the tragedy to attack the Constitution wasn’t bad enough, liberals on Twitter wasted no time attacking Renfro, whose family is “just devastated” by their unimaginable loss.

“Toxic uncle energy,” wrote on user.

“Ahhhh yes, as we know, it’s only acceptable to use dead children’s names to push agendas when you’re on @FoxNews,” tweeted another.

And from a third Twitter user came this tasteless quip: “We’ve all got that one uncle…”
