Turns out, in muddying up the clean-up of a previous remark of his, President Joe Biden has necessitated yet another clean up effort.
Biden held a press conference on Monday and Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked the president about his recent off-script comments about regime change in Russia, U.S. troops going to Ukraine, and the possible use of chemical weapons.
After initially denying that he ever suggested any of the three — he did — the president zeroed in on the remark about U.S. troops going into Ukraine to say he was talking about Ukrainian soldiers.
While in Poland speaking to members of the 82 Airborne Division, Biden was talking about the bravery of Ukrainian citizens and said, “You’re gonna see when you’re there…. People standing in front of a damn tank, saying I’m not leaving.”

Yet, in dispelling his remarks Biden appeared to claim that U.S. troops were training Ukrainian soldiers in Poland.
“I was talking to the troops. We were talking about helping train the troops in — that are — the Ukrainian troops that are in Poland. That’s what the context — I sat there with those guys for a couple hours. That is what we talked about,” the president told Doocy.
Politico reported that on March 22, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan denied that Americans were “currently” training Ukrainians — unless, of course, this is a state secret.
“It’s possible Biden meant to say ‘American’ when he said ‘Ukrainian’ on the second instance, or he exaggerated the extent to which American soldiers advise the Ukrainian forces on how to use the security assistance the administration has provided,” the political news outlet noted.
The White House would later have to clarify what Biden actually meant — an all too common occurrence these days.
“There are Ukrainian soldiers in Poland interacting on a regular basis with U.S. troops, and that’s what the President was referring to,” an administration official said, according to Politico.
Fox News Tucker Carlson claimed on Monday night’s program that 79-year-old Biden is “losing his ability to regulate his emotions, adding that there “has never been recklessness at this level in the White House.
“The joke is over. Too much is at stake. If there ever was a time — if there was in U.S. history ever a time to invoke the 25th Amendment, it is now,” Carlson insisted. “As Joe Biden himself put it, ‘For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.’ For all of our sakes.”
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
They really can’t let him out in public at all. https://t.co/dIkYAhUwQ8

Every time he talks about Ukraine, the White House has to issue a clarification. That’s at least 4 in as many days.
This problem isn’t going away. https://t.co/c59O7dHTPY

so Biden’s explanation for his original comment (suggesting U.S. troops would be going to Ukraine) which was walked back (though he claimed it wasn’t walked back) was itself walked back. https://t.co/QrVGTxfi4h
