Susie Wiles is out as White House chief of staff, and her replacement is MAGA stalwart Stephen Miller.
In the first of what could be several administration personnel moves after the GOP was annihilated in Tuesday’s midterms, the “Ice Maiden” stepped down, with the fiery Miller shifting into the top position starting Monday.
“I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026. Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!” Trump wrote in a Friday afternoon post to Truth Social.
NEW: “Stephen Miller will be the new chief of staff, and Susie is going to go over to the political operation.”
President Trump offers a simple answer when asked what he wants Miller to do differently from Wiles:
“Just run things well.”

“Stephen’s been great, and sometimes in life, you gotta make moves,” Trump told reporters on Friday after Wiles’ departure was announced.
With CNN reporting that Trump was “unhappy” with Wiles and the political team over the midterm catastrophe, she bowed out with grace and praised him in a post to X on Friday, confirming that she is moving on from the vitally important position.
Today is my last day as White House Chief of Staff.
Serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime. I’m so proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together from securing our border and cutting taxes to strengthening our economy and putting America First.
More than anything, I’m grateful for the extraordinary people I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. While my role may be changing, my commitment to the President and the mission never will.

It was obvious that Trump needed a wartime consigliere after Tuesday’s savage bludgeoning of the GOP, and the promotion of the combative Miller is a sign that the White House is circling the wagons for the onslaught of investigations that will commence as soon as the new Democrat majority officially takes charge in January.
President Trump is the most transformative political leader in American History — and he has single-handedly saved America from those who would destroy it.
It has been the privilege of my lifetime to have served on his team from Day One, and I am honored beyond words to serve as his White House Chief of Staff.
I want to thank the incomparable Susie Wiles for her years of devoted service to the President and the Country, and for her friendship.
The mission now is more clear than ever: Fight with all of our soul to support our President and defend this magnificent Republic.

According to The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, Miller’s pitch to his boss included a plea to “wind down” the war in Iran, a decisive factor in the midterm demolition of Trump’s party.
“Mr. Miller’s pitch for the job, according to people who heard it, was that the president needed to wind down the Iran war, a conflict that the president’s core supporters viewed as a betrayal.”

“Miller’s pitch for the job, according to people who heard it, was that the president needed to wind down the Iran war, a conflict that the president’s core supporters viewed as a betrayal,” Haberman reported.
“The reason we lost is the war,” Vice President JD Vance acknowledged in a lengthy post-election post to X on Wednesday.
An illegal immigration hardliner, Miller takes over, with the Democrats expected to use their new power to thwart tough enforcement of federal immigration law and dismantle Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which they have consistently vowed to do when they were in the minority.
“A great pick,” an unnamed Trump administration official told Fox News Digital. “He has the trust of millions of Americans who understand that reversing mass migration is the crisis of our time.”
