A pair of sea lions decided they wanted a private beach it seems, as the marine mammals are seen in video making the rounds clearing people off of a stretch of sand in San Diego.
The video, which was shared on TikTok, captured two sea lions chasing away beachgoers at La Jolla Cove on Friday. People are seen making a run for it as the sea lions give chase, before eventually diving into the water and swimming off.
Turns out, there’s more here than meets the eye, according to Charlianne Yeyna, who was visiting the beach and recorded the scene, with the moral of the story being don’t encroach on wildlife.
“I started recording because it was really funny to watch for me because to see all these tourists getting blown away by these giant sea lions,” Yeyna told NBC 7 San Diego.
“The sea lions were sleeping and were just massive on the beach and I was just watching them and this woman got really close to them, like 4 feet away, and was trying to take a photo of it up close, and it just woke up and started chasing everybody,” she added.
And there you have it, the same reaction you may have should you being awaken from a beach slumber by a tourist snapping photos of you.

Yeyna said there were signs posted warning visitors to give seals and sea lions their space because they are living animals, the NBC affiliate reported. She also said most people on the beach were being respectful.
“I’m glad that it went viral to raise awareness of how dangerous that they can be,” Yeyna said of her video. “Like, they are still wild animals and you need to give them their space. They’re also protected. So I think that this shows that they are not to be messed with.”
Speaking of beach slumbers, a photo of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and her husband, Paul Pelosi, catching a few Zs on a lavish Italian beach were making the rounds over the weekend. Not hard to image the speaker chasing beachgoers away with a gavel should they stir her R&R from all the negative publicity over hubby’s recent DUI arrest.
