The Democratic National Convention hosted an awkward moment that created quite a buzz on social media.
It started when Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) gave a speech that focused on his ideal socialist agenda which predictably bashed anyone who made more than him, including billionaires. It was a speech similar to those he gives on the Senate floor fairly regularly, but this time he complained about 60% of people living “paycheck to paycheck” as if President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris haven’t been in power for the last 3 years.
IDIOT ALERT: Does someone want to tell this socialist that Biden and Harris are in charge now and that it’s their fault that 60% are living paycheck to paycheck? pic.twitter.com/iyNMeE9KNM

He also called out “billionaires in both parties” who are dumping money into and influencing elections.

Then, in a moment that almost could have been scripted by comedy writers, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker came out on stage to speak after Sanders. The same Pritzker who is currently worth an estimated $3.5 billion, according to Forbes.
He even touted his billionaire status on stage to cheers from the audience.
Slob J.B. Pritzker — who has literally built nothing and inherited everything — took a shot at Trump tonight for not being a “real billionaire”

It was such a strange transition that CNN commentator Scott Jennings just had to talk about it.

Bernie used to hate millionaires until he became one.

Pritzker is a Titan of Industry? No, he inherited billions. He was born in 1965. His family has been on Forbes list of wealthiest families in America since 1982, when he was in HS. As we say in the real Midwest, he was born on third base.

We have the “gooood billionaires” they have “baaaad billionaires”. Our millionaire politicians are the good ones, their millionaire politicians are the bad ones. It’s so disingenuous. Thanks for saying it out loud for us Scott because Americans know it too.

Easy to forget that Bernie used to rail against millionaires … until he became a millionaire on the benefit of, well, nothing I guess.
