Biden makes bizarre claim AR-pistol stabilizer braces allow guns to shoot ‘higher caliber’ bullets

President Joe Biden’s bizarre closing remark of ‘God save the Queen’ during an appearance at an anti-gun event has drawn much attention but the octogenarian Democrat’s speech was chock full of craziness and distortions, including that an AR-pistol stabilizer brace can make handguns shoot “higher caliber” bullets.

Speaking to the faithful at the National Safety Communities Summit in West Harford, CT on Friday, the geriatric gaffe machine coughed up a big lie seemingly intended to burnish his administration’s coming crackdown on stabilizing braces, another attack on the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

“Made it harder for people buy stabilized brief— braces. Put a pistol on a brace, it turns into a gun, makes it more, you can have a higher-caliber weapon, higher-caliber bullet coming out of that gun,” the fabricator-in-chief claimed.

Whether it was just one of Biden’s senior moments or another of his brazen lies, the so-called “fact checkers” were nowhere to be found, but Twitter users had plenty to say about Biden’s novel theory on ballistics.

“This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard a politician say about guns, tweeted conservative radio host and former NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch, “A plastic brace on a gun does not change the CALIBER OF THE GUN or the rate of fire.”

Stephen Gutowski of The Reload set the record straight, “What the president says here about pistol braces isn’t true. It’s so garbled it doesn’t even make any sense. A pistol brace is designed to be strapped to a shooter’s forearm. It’s used in place of a stock that’s designed to be pressed against the shoulder.”

Guns.com offers up a short and easily digestible history of stabilizing braces.

“In 1934, Congress passed the National Firearms Act, or NFA. It classified a rifle as a weapon fired from the shoulder with a barrel length of 16 inches or more,” the website states. “Under 16 inches, it was classified as a short-barreled rifle, or SBR. Buying an SBR requires the purchase of a $200 tax stamp much like machine guns or silencers. The NFA also classified handguns as firearms with a short stock designed to be held and fired with a single hand. But handguns had no barrel length regulations. These classifications remain today.”

“In 2012, Alex Bosco invented the Pistol Stabilizing Brace. He made it to help a disabled Veteran friend fire his gun with one hand. That same year, he submitted it to the ATF for consideration and they approved the device for use with pistols and other firearms,” according to Guns.com.”Soon after, Bosco co-formed a company called SB Tactical. They’ve been manufacturing and innovating Pistol Stabilizing Braces ever since.”

“Millions of pistol braces have been sold today. However, since 2013, the ATF has been re-evaluating their decision. This has caused a considerable amount of confusion. But sales have remained strong and gun owners have attempted to comply with the vague and often shifting guidance from the ATF,” the website reads.
