The Biden administration reportedly pressured airports to house illegal aliens despite warnings that doing so could jeopardize safety and put travelers at risk.
This conclusion is tucked into a 47-page report released this week by the Senate Commerce Committee and previewed by Fox News.
The report specifically notes that the Biden White House directed the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to find and convert airports into illegal alien shelters.
The report further reveals that the Biden administration reached out to at least 11 airports, including Chicago O’Hare and New York’s JFK.

Some airports reportedly pushed back.
“We are not designed or resourced to manage the intake of migrant populations… this would create a host of unintended safety and security consequences,” the Massachusetts Port Authority, which runs Logan International Airport, wrote to the then-administration.
Yet despite this warning, Logan International Airport ended up hosting 352 illegal aliens in Terminal E at a cost of $779,000.
Chicago O’Hare, meanwhile, ended up hosting 900 migrants in a shuttle terminal. During the time that illegal aliens were housed there, the police logged 329 service calls and 26 arrests, including for thefts, disorderly conduct, and even a death.
Illegals were also hosted at New York’s JFK Airport, where an “an [illegal] alien from Ecuador” reportedly once entered the airport’s secure section and then ran “toward two runways.”
“Security found him, arrested him, and found a box cutter and a pair of scissors on his person,” the report reads.

Certain agencies were directed to take additional steps to assist in these operations.
“The FMCSA, the report says, was told to help produce a ‘Know Your Rights’ pamphlet for bus passengers and to coordinate with states tracking bus companies transporting migrants,” according to Fox News.
The FTA, meanwhile, was “encouraged to remind local transit agencies that federal grants could be used to move migrants,” the report reads.
The Senate Commerce Committee concluded in its report that all these pro-illegal alien moves reflected “a dangerous diversion” of federal transportation resources.
“The Biden-Harris administration made airports and aviation less secure by allowing and encouraging aliens to shelter at U.S. airports, by allowing improperly vetted aliens to fly into and throughout the United States, and by diverting needed federal air marshals to the border,” the report reads.
In a statement to Fox News, Committee Chairman Sen. Ted Cruz slammed the Biden administration.
“This report exposes how the Biden Department of Transportation conspired with local leaders in New York, Boston, and Chicago to house migrants in airport facilities at taxpayer expense,” he said.
“Their decisions – to transport illegal aliens through airports without identity checks, even those with felonies — show in new detail how Biden’s open border policy coopted government agencies to put American citizens at risk,” he added.

A separate report published last year by the House Homeland Security Committee revealed that over 50 airports were used to “redistribute” hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens under the Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) mass-parole program.
“Under the program, illegal immigrants from CHNV who obtain a US sponsor, pass a background check, and demonstrate that parole is warranted based on significant public benefit or urgent humanitarian reasons, are allowed to fly into US ports of entry, where they will receive work permits and authorization to remain in the country for two years,” The Carolina Journal reported in May of 2024.
