Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot DANCES in the streets as violent crime rages, businesses flee Windy City

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was torched on social media over a video of her dancing in the streets at a time when her city is among the most violent in the nation as emboldened criminals prey on helpless citizens and businesses are fleeing an iconic shopping district in droves.

Lightfoot, whose tenure has been marked by her controversial reactions to both the COVID pandemic and the summer 2020 mayhem that erupted after the death of George Floyd, turned out for the city’s Lunar New Year where she shook her booty to the beat of drums while wearing one of her trademark hats, not great optics with the mayoral election only a month away

The carnage in the streets – a common trait of Democrat-run cities – has led to businesses packing up and leaving the “Magnificent Mile,” Chicago’s famous downtown shopping district which has a vacancy rate of 30 percent with a spiraling crime rate not contributing to a safe and healthy business environment.

One Twitter user wrote, “Since @chicagomayor’s term began, Chicago has suffered 2,278 homicides and over 9,000 shot. Since January 1, the city has endured 41 homicides and 194 shot. Yet here Lightfoot is blissfully dancing and asking voters to return her to office. Lightfoot is detached from reality,” along with a video of Lightfoot festively dancing among falling snowflakes and street musicians with drums and cymbals.

As crime continues to soar with no end in sight, such big-name outlets as Old Navy, Macy’s, Timberland, Gap, Banana Republic, and Uniqlo have closed up shop since Lightfoot’s COVID lockdowns which were among the most severe in the nation, race riots and violent crime.

A local citizen reporter posted a video of empty storefronts in Lightfoot’s Chicago,

“We have started to change Chicago around for the better,” said the Windy City’s historic first openly lesbian black mayor during a recent debate. “I want to finish the job that we have started.”

Twitter begged to differ and the optics of Lightfoot’s happy dance conjured images of Nero fiddling while Rome burned with one user.

Other reactions to the mayor putting on her Lunar New Year boogie shoes:

More observations from users on Lightfoot’s Facebook page where she posted the dance video weren’t nearly as kind.

“She looks like a crack head,” one user opined.

Another wrote, “She’s America’s female freakshow.”

“Your city is a hell hole,” said another user.

With crime already up a whopping 61 percent in the first four weeks of the new year compared to the same period last year, 2023 is off to a rip-roaring start.

Not only is Lightfoot’s Chicago being terrorized by criminals, it is also plagued with rats and recently scored the dubious honor of being recognized as pest control giant Orkin’s “rattiest cities,” the eighth consecutive year that the Windy City rodent dynasty has reigned.

Voters go to the polls on February 28 with Lightfoot facing a crowded field in the contest which will likely be heading to a runoff in April if no candidate gets 50% of the vote plus one.

If the election heads to a runoff, the top two candidates will be presented to voters in what could be a referendum on Lightfoot with the new mayoral term for whoever wins beginning on May 15, 2023.
