TMZ is reporting that comedian Scott Thompson, better known by his stage name “Carrot Top,” was rushed to the hospital on Friday.
The celebrity gossip outlet indicates that the emergency response stemmed from an apparent suicide attempt, citing “sources familiar with the situation.”
“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,” Thompson’s representative Jami Schlicher said in a statement to TMZ.
The prop comic, known for his fiery red hair and high-energy performances, has had the honor of having the longest-running residency in Las Vegas. He has also long been a long-time headliner at the Luxor, and was expected to have a show on Friday night that was canceled due to his hospitalization.
