Cori Bush pushes resolution to expel Jan 6 involved Congressmembers for day’s commemoration

Rep. Cori Bush, D – Missouri, believes that members of Congress coordinated to aid the rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan 6, and she believes the best way to honor the memory of that day is to expel them from their positions.

Despite the fact that investigations into what happened on that day and who was involved in a criminal capacity are still ongoing, Bush is pushing her House Resolution that would expel any members who were involved should it be passed.

The resolution is co-authored by fellow Democrats including “Squad” members Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D – New York, and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D – Minnesota. Its aim is “directing the Committee on Ethics to investigate, and issue a report on, whether any and all actions taken by Members of the 117th Congress who sought to overturn the 2020 Presidential election violated their oath of office…and should face sanction, including removal from the House of Representatives.”

It also blasts Republican congress members who refused to immediately accept the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, and wouldn’t acknowledge that then-President-elect Joe Biden had won over President Donald Trump. It ripped “the decision…to join efforts to invalidate votes in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin suppresses the votes of millions of people.”

Implying that the disbelief had something to do with the race/ethnicity of the voters in areas where the most doubt about accuracy had risen, the resolution accused Republicans of “refusing to concede the outcome of the 2020 Presidential election and raising baseless allegations of fraud in States in which Black, Brown, and Indigenous people have been instrumental to the election outcome.”

Twitter users, presumably in line with her brand of politics, cheered the idea:
