Democrats rush for the exits after latest Platner bombshell

The latest skeleton to emerge from Graham Platner’s closet proved too much for Democrats to bury with spin, as an avalanche of withdrawn support begged a question from another alleged victim:

“Mine weren’t sufficiently troubling or serious for you, right?”

As the week kicked off, it was evident that the left’s previously Nazi-tattooed Senate candidate from Maine was no longer about to take center stage anew as campaign events were abruptly canceled. Shortly thereafter, new allegations of sexual assault were presented by a woman who once dated Platner, only now prompting Democrats to call for him to end his campaign.

Speaking with both Politico and CNN, 41-year-old Jenny Racicot alleged that Platner entered her home uninvited in 2021, as detailed in Politico, “deeply intoxicated, and forced himself on her while she repeatedly told him to stop. She said she cut off contact with him after telling him the encounter was not consensual.”

During her interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, she highlighted a memory of Platner “grabbing at my chest and I, like, hit his hand and I said, ‘Don’t touch me,” having told Politico of how he’d allegedly been “really forceful” grabbing her pelvis and how she recalled the moment she thought, “This is no longer my choice.”

Without getting into details, the Senate candidate released his own statement on Monday, calling the allegations “troubling, serious and false.”

“Any accusation of nonconsensual behavior is categorically false,” he went on before applauding supporters. “So, regardless of the inaccuracy of the reporting, but mindful of the political reality it will inflict, we are taking the time to reflect on the best path forward for the state that I love, the people I love, the movement I belong to and the goal of defeating Susan Collins.”

Meanwhile, like rats fleeing a sinking ship, Democrats lined up to call on Platner to withdraw from the Senate race.

California Rep. Ro Khanna posted to X, “I’ve been very clear that sexual assault or violence against women is a red line. These allegations are very serious and credible. Graham Platner should drop out from the race. I am withdrawing my endorsement.”

Likewise, Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego reacted, “The allegations against Graham Platner are troubling and deeply serious. I am rescinding my endorsement.”

Responding to the senator, Lyndsey Fifield, Platner’s ex-girlfriend who previously accused the New York Times of having “delayed and twisted” her own allegations of abuse by the politician as “a gift to the Platner campaign,” posted, “Mine weren’t sufficiently troubling or serious for you, right?”

As the likes of California Sen. Adam Schiff and Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly also said their piece, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who previously referred to Platner as “my kind of man” while campaigning for him, was quoted by NOTUS reporter Igor Bobic as saying, “Now more than ever we need leaders in Washington who reflect our values. There can be no tolerance for sexual assault. Working families are counting on Democrats to win the Senate election in Maine to unrig our economy and hold Donald Trump accountable. With so much at stake, the best path forward is for Graham Platner to step aside as the Democratic nominee and address these serious allegations outside the Senate race.”

Lawmakers weren’t alone in walking back their support, as Stephen L. Miller highlighted a post from just a day earlier that had been deleted by commenting, “Platner defenders doing some ‘cleansing,'” prompting the reaction, “So basically, the entire media complex has to delete their last six months of account history.”
