An investigative reporter believes that a Wikipedia editor has been hard at work curating Abdul El-Sayed’s image.
In an X thread posted the day before midterms, Ashley Rindsberg claims the then-Michigan Senate candidate’s Wikipedia page had been scrubbed to mitigate any mention of controversies, including his association with progressive streamer Hasan Piker and his “antisemitism problem.”
However, positive bits like his endorsements by former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as a line bashing AIPAC, were prominently featured.
Look:
Over the past months, a single Wikipedia editor has been quietly shaping @AbdulElSayed’s entry.
The editing has been intensive and highly directed. For example:
+ Hasan Piker controversy got cut down.
+ Syed’s antisemitism problem – deleted.
+ Harris and Obama endorsements went in.
+ A line saying AIPAC’s brand is “toxic” included. Is it an op?
Well, two weeks ago the same editor had this to say in an edit summary on the El-Sayed page:
“another half month of this shit.”

The account is CopyleftEverything.
After adding 15,000+ bytes to the El-Sayed entry, CopyleftEverything is now the top editor on the page.
All but two of CopyleftEverything’s 19 edits to El-Sayed’s page came between Oct 10 and Nov 1.

CopyleftEverything has been diligent in what appears to be a clean-up of El-Sayed’s page.
Just days ago, the account deleted a whole paragraph on El-Sayed’s attempt to hire a Jewish community liaison.
That was the paragraph covering his tensions with Michigan’s Jewish community and his statements about the Temple Israel attack.
It was a bad look for El-Sayed.
Now it’s gone from the public record.
