FBI definitively says bullet struck Trump, fmr WH physician blasts Wray for ‘wrong and inappropriate’ comments

Former White House physician Rep. Ronny Johnson slammed FBI Director Christopher Wray on Friday for blatantly lying about the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

In a letter addressed to the “concerned citizens of the United States,” he first provided an update on Trump’s health and then proceeded to slam Wray for what he’d said while testifying to Congress days earlier.

“During the Congressional Hearing two days ago, FBI Director Christopher Wray suggested that it could be a bullet, shrapnel, or glass [that had hit Trump],” he wrote. “There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet.”

“Congress should correct the record as confirmed by both the hospital and myself. Director Wray is wrong and inappropriate to suggest anything else,” he added.

Following the letter’s publication, the FBI issued a statement seeking to clarify Wray’s remarks to Congress.

“What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the FBI said.

But critics weren’t impressed with this attempt to backtrack:

The rest of Jackson’s letter concerned Trump’s current health.

“I have reviewed President Trump’s medical records from Butler Memorial Hospital, where he was initially evaluated and treated for a ‘Gunshot Wound to the Right Ear,'” he wrote.

“Having served as an Emergency Medicine physician for over 20 years in the United States Navy, including as a combat physician on the battlefield in Iraq, I have treated many gunshot wounds in my career. Based on my direct observations of the injury, my relevant clinical background, and my significant experience evaluating and treating patients with similar wounds, I completely concur with the initial assessment and treatment provided by the doctors and nurses at Butler Memorial Hospital on the day of the shooting,” he added.

He concluded the letter by reassuring the American people that Trump is fine.

“I want to reassure the American people and the rest of the world, that President Trump is doing extremely well,” he wrote. “He is rapidly recovering from the gunshot wound to his right ear. I will continue to be available to assist President Trump and his personal physician in any way they see fit and will provide updates as necessary and with the permission of President Trump.”

The letter’s publication came a day after Jackson first slammed Wray during an appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow,” telling host Larry Kudlow that it was “absolutely ridiculous” for Wray to suggest that Trump wasn’t struck by a bullet.

“This degrades any level of credibility that this man may have had – after years of weaponizing the FBI and the DOJ against the president,” he said. “It was absolutely a bullet. I examined it. There was a track of a bullet.”

“We don’t have any confidence in the number one law enforcement agency in this country right now. And if [Wray’s] going to come make statements like that, he better have some evidence of what he’s talking about. There was no fractured glass on the teleprompters or anything else,” he added.

In a statement to Fox News, the FBI sought to defend itself by claiming its priority these past few weeks has been on learning more about the would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks.

“Since the day of the attack, the FBI has been consistent and clear that the shooting was an attempted assassination of former President Trump which resulted in his injury, as well as the death of a heroic father and the injuries of several other victims,” a spokesperson said.

“FBI Director Wray provided extensive congressional testimony on Wednesday about the FBI’s investigation. This was a heinous attack and the FBI is devoting enormous resources to learn everything possible about the shooter and what led to his act of violence,” they added.
