Fed-up Stefanik blasts DOD for covering up its ‘radical woke agenda’ after stalling review of diversity officer

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., is growing impatient with the “woke” Defense Department in response to a review of a diversity official who appears to take issue with white people.

The Pentagon supposedly launched a 30-day review of Kelisa Wing, the chief of equity, diversity and inclusion at the Department of Defense Education Activity, a department that oversees schooling for children of Pentagon employees including active duty service members. Wing came under fire for a number of things, including a tweet complaining that she was “exhausted with these White folx.”

“DOD is refusing to answer my request to release their long-overdue review of radical Kelisa Wing and is attempting to shamefully cover up their radical woke agenda,” Stefanik told Fox News Digital. “Our service-member families and the American people deserve to know what is going on in their children’s schools.”

Wing is also listed as an author on several progressive children’s books in a series called “Racial Justice In America,” according to the Daily Mail.

“What Is White Privilege?” is the title of one of the books, which includes the line, “If you are White you might feel bad about hurting others or you might feel afraid to lose this privilege.” Another book is titled, “What Does it Mean To Defund the Police?”

There was also a story about Wing promoting a “social justice” book for classrooms that called 9/11 first responders “menaces.”

As for the aforementioned tweet, Wing wrote in July 2020, “‘I’m exhausted with these white folx in these [professional development] sessions this lady actually had the CAUdacity to say that black people can be racist too… I had to stop the session and give Karen the BUSINESS…we are not the majority, we don’t have power.”

As noted by the British newspaper, “Caudacity”– a blending of Caucasian and audacity — and “Karen” are “well-worn slang terms used to mock white people.”

Stefanik, chair of the House Republican Conference, sent a letter of inquiry to the DOD in November on the potential impact of Wing’s anti-White views on her role within the agency.

“The findings are being presented to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness for decision,” Cmdr. Nicole Schwegman, a DOD spokesperson, told Fox News Digital.

Another concern Stefanik expressed interest in was based on a report from the nonprofit government watchdog group OpenTheBooks, which showed that 45 copies of Wing’s books were carried by 11 schools run by the DoDEA.

Schwegman told Fox News that Wing’s position “does not play any role in selection or procurement of library books or support materials.”

“This person is also not involved in curriculum selection or procurement,” she said. “Our focus remains on ensuring military-connected students, their families and our employees have equitable access to opportunities and resources that support student achievement and readiness for college and careers.”

The term “equitable” being a red flag to expect reverse discrimination.

Stefanik called on the DOD to release its findings right away.

“It is long past time for the Department of Defense to release the findings of Kelisa Wing’s divisive and radical ideology she is imposing in our DoDEA schools and her own propaganda placed in DoDEA libraries, so America can have transparency and prioritize our military’s focus on strength rather than wokeness,” she told Fox News Digital.
