Anthony Fauci isn’t going to walk off into the sunset following a Senate hearing where he invoked the Fifth Amendment over 100 times if the state of Florida has anything to say about it.
The once-outspoken doctor avoided all questions about his authoritative actions and proclamations during the COVID pandemic while in the hot seat at a contentious Senate hearing last week. Republican Senator Rand Paul, who led the hearing, warned Fauci that there should be consequences for his overt defiance, and Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier agrees.
“We issued a formal subpoena to Dr. Fauci under Florida state law seeking a breadth of documents ranging to what he knew, when he knew it, his doubts about the safety and efficacy of vaccines that he’s out there promoting,” the state attorney general said.

Uthmeier alleged that Fauci was using his newfound fame at the time to profit personally.
“He’s trying to pursue book deals, awards get conducted with high rollers that, you know, might help him come into millions and millions of dollars. This is wrong. And it could go towards a deceptive trade practice, fraud, public nuisance, you name it,” he continued and vowed to hold Fauci accountable should his investigation turn up evidence of wrongdoing.
“It shows me he’s got something to hide. He is worried. When you get a presidential blanket pardon that should provide immunity where you can talk, you can explain your reasoning. You can explain the research. I think his diary makes clear if he was not confident in that research. He doubted it; he doubted it the entire time. But he didn’t reveal that publicly,” Uthmeier continued.
“He was focused on the mandates and the lockdowns because that would sell. That would help get the book deal, the agents he wanted to meet, that would help him win awards and fame and fortune,” he continued. “So we have a lot of concerns in Florida. We are going to investigate. If he has violated state law, we will hold him accountable.”
