Florida LGBTQ+ group declares with ‘a heavy heart’ that Pride event will be for adults only

A Florida LGBTQ+ group has called off its gay pride parade this weekend, citing a change in the political climate due to a new bill penalizing those who expose children to “lewd” sexually orientated content that is expected to soon be signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis.

The Pride Alliance of the Treasure Coast announced that its parade would not take place after having multiple conversations with Port St. Lucie officials, other events during Pridefest would be restricted to those 21 years old and older.

“As all of you know, the political climate that we are currently in has us all very concerned for our community. After multiple meetings with city officials, it is with a heavy heart that Pride Alliance of the Treasure Coast has to announce that this weekend’s Pridefest will now be a 21 and older event,” the group wrote in a Wednesday post to its Facebook page, saying that it was sad and disheartened that it had to “cancel plans to bring back our beloved parade.”

The bill that the group is referring to, SB 1438 which is titled “Protection of Children” is a reaction to the ongoing exposure of children to lewd and lascivious content and conduct at events featuring the very special demographic amid increased awareness of the seduction of kids into the homosexual lifestyle at drag shows and drag queen story hours with one notable example being a Christmas-themed event billed as “A Drag Queen Christmas” that featured a skit with “Screwdolph the Red Nippled Reindeer” in which the lyrics for the beloved holiday classic song were subbed out with sexually degenerate filth,

The bill establishes strict penalties including “authorizing the Division of Hotels and Restaurants of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation to fine, suspend, or revoke the license of any public lodging establishment or public food service establishment if the establishment admits a child to an adult live performance.”

“We hope that everyone understands that this is definitely not what we wanted at all and are working with the city to assure our safety as well as produce a positive event. We have held off as long as we could in making this announcement as we were hoping it would not have to be made,” the group said in its Facebook post.

Twitter reacted to the group’s sad announcement that the parade was called off, led by the Babylon Bee which once again summed it up perfectly.

Other reactions to the event’s cancelation.

Earlier this month, a Florida homosexual activist organization issued a travel warning for members of the LGBTQ+ community to protest the “extremist policies” of Governor DeSantis.

Port St. Lucie is located on the state’s Atlantic coast 113 miles north of Miamia and 125 miles southeast of Orlando, it is not yet known how the new law will affect other events as Pride Month will be celebrated in June.
