Twitter is once again up in arms, this time over a quip by ESPN analyst and former professional ice hockey defenseman P.K. Subban, branding him “fatphobic” and “bigoted.”
The comment came during a Tuesday night discussion following a disappointing performance by the Toronto Maple Leafs. ESPN co-host John Buccigross suggested that the team had to “pack a lunch,” calling out their lack of energy.
“Listen, maybe they need to pack a Lizzo-sized lunch,” Subban followed up, referring to the plus-sized rapper.

Naturally, this didn’t go over very well on Twitter:
It’s getting harder & harder to enjoy PK Subban. And before the “I thought you wanted hockey players to show more personality!” brigade comes through, nobody ever said we want them to be casually cruel or bigoted. We’re not so starved for personalities that we’ll embrace garbage.

Nvm about my other tweet. Wtf is this. PK faced so much racism and black fans, especially the women, defended him like hell and this is how he pays them back? Bro.

Not cool PK… keep your opinions to yourself unless your talking hockey…

Maybe P.K. should learn to use his inside voice more often. He was out of line!

An ignorant comment to say the least! I hope the network he works for insists he make an apology to Lizzo and to fans. This is not acceptable!

PK’s ego has been overweight for years

I don’t understand why or how anyone’s size or weight is anyone’s business. How is someone else’s weight affect you personally? To each their own. Mind YOUR potatoes.
