Fugitive correctional officer reportedly spotted at adult store before fleeing with prisoner

As the manhunt for escaped Alabama prisoner Casey Cole White, 38, and correctional officer Vicky White, 56, stretches into its tenth day, some Alabamians have reported seeing Vicky White in an adult book store prior to her making a run for it with the Lauderdale County inmate.

While not related, Casey White and Vicky White disappeared from the Lauderdale County Detention Center early on April 29 and are said to be in a “special relationship,” according to NewsNation.

Workers in the adult store were reportedly unable to comment on any alleged sightings of the fugitive, however other Alabama residents claim they saw Vicky purchasing men’s clothing in a department store prior to going on the run.

The daring escape shocked Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly, who, after 16 years working with Vicky White, described her as “solid.”

“Solid, was my word for her,” Connolly told NewsNation. “So when this happened it was such a shock. She was not a big talker. But got things done.”

“It’s like the stages of grief,” Connolly continued. “You say, ‘This is unbelievable. This didn’t happen.’ Then you get to the point, where I am now, and I am mad that she did this.”

An ex-inmate at the prison agreed.

“I never thought she would break any rules or anything like that,” the former prisoner said. “She is the person you would go to if you had a problem and she would fix it.”

In the days since the disappearance, police have been trying to piece together a picture of Vicky in the days leading up to the jailbreak.

Vicky sold the house she lived in just days before she took off, well below the market value. Her mother, Pat, who lives next door to Vicky, told NewsNation that this is not the daughter she knows.

However, a former employee of the detention facility who worked under Vicky White for seven years says those who knew her aren’t a bit surprised.

“Nobody is surprised,” said Tyler Johnson, who claims he was wrongfully terminated from his position. According to him, Vicky is both smart and cunning. “Nobody that worked there with her is surprised.”

“Honestly,” Johnson continued, “I don’t think she will be found. She is calculated enough that she has thought this entire thing through. She definitely outsmarted the sheriff. She outsmarted the administrator of the jail.”

The U.S. Marshals Service is seeking the public’s help in locating the fugitives, releasing rendered photos that show Casey White’s tattoos and illustrating how Vicky might appear with dark hair, sans bangs.

Former U.S. Marshal Service commander Lenny DePaul told Fox News Digital Friday that the duo “would be fools to leave the country.”

“That would be a dumb move,” DePaul said. “It does not make life difficult for us as an agency.”

“You’ve got to remember, Interpol, 186 countries under them — we work well with our international folks,” DePaul stated. “We have an international branch within the Marshal Service, and we’re on the ground in several countries. We’re way ahead of the curve on that stuff.”

In fact, said DePaul “it would help us” if they tried to flee the States.

At 6-foot-9 and 330 pounds, Casey White towers over Vicky’s 5-foot-5 stature, making the duo relatively easy to spot. For this reason, suggested DePaul, they may have separated.

Either way, DePaul says, time is with the investigators.

“Time is on investigators’ side,” DePaul said. “They’ve got nothing but time. These people are sleeping with one eye open.”
