Harmeet Dhillon: 300 attorneys quit DOJ over efforts to purge voter rolls, end DEI practices

As purging woke remained a priority in the Justice Department, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon addressed waves of lawyers she said had “self-deported.”

Since President Donald Trump’s second administration began, illegal aliens aren’t the only ones who’ve aided him in keeping campaign promises by showing themselves the door. Among the thousands who’ve quit the DOJ alone since the beginning of 2025, Dhillon linked the departure of around 300 to doing what “the American people voted for.”

Appearing on Salem News Channel’s “The Hugh Hewitt Show” with guest host Kurt Schlicter, the head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division noted the contrast in staff volume during her tenure from the roughly 400 attorneys she’d started with.

“And when we came in and told the lawyers here that we were going to be implementing the president’s executive orders, and prioritizing getting rid of DEI, and cleaning up voter rolls and, you know, doing some of these important things that the American people voted for, eventually about 300 of those attorneys quit,” explained Dhillon, who concluded, “they self-deported.”

Since the staffing low, she detailed that more than 100 legal professionals had been recruited to work toward the mission set forth by the administration.

“We have revitalized our efforts. We have, you know, worked as a single unit with great zeal and dedication to do exactly what I promised in my first week on the job, which is implement those executive orders within the statutory framework of all of our great civil rights laws, which I love and respect,” she told Schlicter.

The interview came just two days before another Supreme Court victory was handed down for Trump, permitting the Department of Homeland Security to use Social Security records to verify the citizenship of those registered to vote.

Despite the understanding that the ruling falls short of offering a major impact on the midterm elections, as many state laws prohibit removing voters from rolls within 90 days of an election, Attorney General Todd Blanche reacted, “Huge victory for election integrity! The Supreme Court granted @TheJusticeDept’s stay in revamping the [Systemic Alien Verification for Entitlements] SAVE citizenship verification database, which will allow states to clear the voter rolls of illegal voters.”

“The modified SAVE system allows state and local officials to conduct citizenship verification of registered voters to keep aliens from voting. The Justice Department will continue fighting in court for secure elections. Every American should want this!” he added as Dhillon reacted, “Huge!”

Meanwhile, lauds rained down for the assistant attorney general for holding firm to the actual mission of the Civil Rights Division rather than peddling the Marxist agenda of career bureaucrats embedded under previous administrations to subvert the republic.
