If the 2024 election was a movie it could be billed as the clash of the titans with the real battle taking place between two warring California factions: Hollywood vs. Silicon Valley.
With former President Donald J. Trump getting the backing from powerful tech industry elites, including billionaire SpaceX/Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk, the Democratic Party’s traditional power base in Hollywood is lashing out.
Having successfully flexed their muscles in the overthrow of Joe Biden as the party’s nominee in favor of San Francisco golden gal Kamala Harris, Tinseltown moguls are taking aim at Trump’s influential backers, spewing profane invective and relishing payback in a piece published by the Hollywood Reporter.

“F— these Trump-loving techies,” one unnamed studio exec is quoted by the outlet, referring to the Hollywood big shots’ contempt for what it describes as “the Northern California robber barons” with a particular burr under their saddles being the alleged $45 million a month that Musk is said to be donating to back Trump’s reelection. Musk has denied that amount being donated according to Reuters.
“We’ve had a decade in which the Musks and Zuckerbergs and Sam Altmans of the world have been defining our culture, and the world is not better for it,” one “well-known” Hollywood exec who is backing Harris told the Hollywood Reporter.
“These guys have too much power as it is. We don’t need them setting policy and running the Oval Office. I think this campaign is a chance to even the scales,” the unnamed executive added, an indication of how deeply Hollywood is going to be involved in the election to prevent a rollback of their depraved and degenerate values.
“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk wrote on X after Trump narrowly escaped being assassinated last month.

Meta/Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has also recently been complimentary of the former president.
“Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” said an impressed Zuckerberg in an interview with Bloomberg.
“It’s no secret that Hollywood has never been very fond of these guys. Nobody relishes the thought of these people in bed with the Trump administration. There’s a sh*tload of money here in Hollywood, as well as a lot of disdain for these tech bros, and I think you’ll see people putting up a lot of dough just to teach these dudes they can’t buy an election,” an unnamed top Democrat consultant told THR.
“What makes me question humankind is the number of tech-bro billionaires who hold their noses and back Trump solely to make more money,” said Eric Paquette, a Democrat fundraiser and CEO of Meridian Pictures
“I don’t get it. You’ve got $10 billion in the bank, and you’re still going to support Trump because he’s going to lower your taxes even more than he already has? There’s no justifying it. It’s a sad commentary on the lengths people go to protect their wealth at the expense of protecting our democracy,” Paquette added, parroting the nonsense about “our democracy” which is a term that really means permanent one-party Democrat rule.
The Hollywood Reporter also dips into the realm of conspiracy theories for no obvious reason other than to besmirch Trump’s supporters in Silicon Valley.
“Their idea is to develop advanced technologies to radically reengineer themselves so that there’s no death,” the outlet quotes Case Western Reserve University professor Émile Torres. “Immortality is a key part of this belief system. In that way, it’s very much like a religion. That’s why some people are calling it the Scientology of Silicon Valley.”
“Others in San Francisco are calling it ‘The Nerd Reich,'” according to THR.
“I think these guys see Trump as an empty vessel,” a Harris-supporting exec said. “They see him as a way to pursue their political agenda, which is survival of the fittest, no regulation, burn-the-house-down nihilism that lacks any empathy or nuance.”
“The enthusiasm and support for the vice president has been euphoric,” Hollywood mogul and Harris campaign co-chair Jeffrey Katzenberg told the outlet. “It’s ignited people in a way I’ve never seen before.”
