Horrific video captures good Samaritan being run down, killed by carjacker

A good Samaritan who attempted to stop a carjacking by firing at a man stealing a truck was plowed into and killed by the suspect afterward and it was all shockingly caught on video.

Jonathan Adam Lecompte, 38, died after being hit at full speed and tossed in the air by the stolen vehicle outside a Burger King in Lumberton, North Carolina in March. He was one of several good Samaritans who tried to stop the carjacking, according to TMZ.

Police claim the suspect, Ricky Alex Driggers, 28, stole the truck. Lecompte ran after the suspect, yelling at him to get out of the vehicle and then firing four shots at Driggers who backed up to get away. He then reportedly reversed the truck, gunned it, and slammed into Lecompte which led to his death.

Driggers is being charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted common law robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle, and felony fleeing to elude, according to the Daily Mail.

**WARNING: DISTURBING VIDEO**

A viral video that is just now circulating shows Lecompte attempting to stop Driggers by firing at him just before he was deliberately run over and killed.

“Don’t get in the goddamn truck fool!” Lecompte warned the suspect and then began firing at Driggers.

As Driggers backed away in a hurry, Lecompte shouted, “‘Get out the way, he is going to run into us.”

Though they ran to get out of the path of the speeding truck, it appeared to intentionally barrel toward the men, sending Lecompte airborne as bystanders started screaming. One woman kept exclaiming, “Oh, my God!”

Other people who saw the incident can be seen in the video running toward Lecompte as his body lay motionless on the side of the road.

According to the Daily Mail, “Officers with Lumberton Police Department later caught up with Driggers who fled the scene, after he wrecked the vehicle on a highway.”

“Good Samaritans got involved to prevent the carjacking but the suspect was then able to steal the vehicle of one of the Good Samaritans. In the process of stealing the vehicle the suspect reportedly intentionally struck one of the Good Samaritans with the stolen vehicle. The male victim who was struck by the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” a statement from police noted.

“Officers arriving on the scene saw the suspect as he was fleeing the scene and pursued the suspect in the stolen vehicle until the suspect wrecked the stolen vehicle on Selma Road near Highway 41,” the statement added.

Driggers is being held without bail at the Robeson County Detention Center.
