ICE won’t be scaling back its operations at the Super Bowl – DHS says

Leftist furor over immigration enforcement won’t impede planned operations at the Super Bowl as a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson previewed “whole-of-government response.”

Tensions have been ramped up once more over the weekend in Minnesota when a confrontation with federal law enforcement resulted in the death of a protester. Now, as President Donald Trump dispatched border czar Tom Homan to engender cooperation from state and local officials there, DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin asserted the mission for Super Bowl LX “remains unchanged.”

“DHS is committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure the Super Bowl is safe for everyone involved, as we do with every major sporting event, including the World Cup,” she reportedly told TMZ Sports. “Our mission remains unchanged.”

Slated for Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the Super Bowl will pit the Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots, with many anticipating politically charged musical performances via Green Day’s opening ceremony and the halftime show headlined by cross-dressing rapper Bad Bunny.

“Those who are here legally and are not breaking other laws have nothing to fear,” McLaughlin had told the outlet. “We will not disclose future operations or discuss personnel. Super Bowl security will entail a whole-of-government response conducted in-line with the U.S. Constitution.”

Prior to the announcement that Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, would be performing the halftime show, the rapper expressed his desire to cease performing in the United States because “f*cking ICE could be outside [my concerts]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

The controversial pick was handled with aplomb by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem when she assured commentator Benny Johnson in October, “So yeah, we’ll be all over the place.”

Noem added to the podcast host, “… we’re gonna enforce the law. So I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they’re law-abiding Americans who love this country.”

Similarly, adviser Corey Lewandowski said, “There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find you and apprehend you and put you in a detention facility and deport you.”

Monday, the president conveyed that he had “good” telephone calls with both Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) following his dispatch of Homan and set expectations for law enforcement in Minnesota to begin assisting federal law enforcement operations, to turn over all criminal illegal aliens incarcerated in the state and help apprehend any others with active warrants or known criminal histories.

“All of these requests are rooted in COMMON SENSE, and will provide the best possible circumstances to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” wrote the chief executive on Truth Social. “The Trump Administration is standing by, and waiting for ANY Democrat to do the right thing, and work with us on these important matters of MAKING AMERICA SAFE like it is in all sections of our Country where we are, together with Local Leadership, participating and involved.”
