‘It’s a powder keg in Queens’: Borough president warns, but AOC encourages more illegals

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who represents the Bronx which has taken in the fewest number of illegal aliens, continues to invite more illegal aliens into New York City even as local officials fret that a “powder keg” is being created.

The Bronx has taken in only 18 percent (2,587) of the illegal aliens who’ve been forwarded to the city. Queens meanwhile has taken in 32 percent (4,782), despite the community suffering from a whole host of other problems, according to the New York Post.

“It’s a powder keg in Queens at this point. There are several crises. You have a recession coming. We have a lack of affordable housing, rising rents. We have food insecurity,” Queens Borough president Donovan Richards told the Post.

He added that illegals are being forwarded to Queens even though “there’s not enough resources being pumped into the communities.”

“This is a recipe for a social and economic disaster,” Richards said.

Meanwhile, during a town hall this Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez refused to accept that the border needs to be secured when reportedly confronted by a retired firefighter about the state of the southern border.

“We have foreign nationals by the millions pouring in illegally. Flooding our country. You are a member of Congress. Writing our immigration laws… What will you do with the immigration law to secure the southern border?” the firefighter reportedly said to her.

She responded not by calling for the Biden administration to stop catering to illegal aliens. Instead, she responded by arguing that illegal aliens have the right to be here.

“It’s legal to seek asylum at the United States border. It’s legal. It’s legal. It’s legal to claim asylum. When we talk about undocumented people, my priority is about opening legal pathways to citizenship. And making sure they are open,” she said, according to the Post.

She also reportedly blamed U.S. policies abroad for the border crisis.

“The US has contributed historically to regime change in Latin America which … has been multi-decade contributing factors to why people happen to be on our southern border right now. We don’t want these crises but we need to accept responsibility for our contribution to them,” she claimed.

“If we don’t want people here illegally then we should document them!” the congresswoman added.

So the congresswoman’s solution to illegal migration appears to be to just make the illegals legal.  Never mind the effect this would impose on the American people themselves. American people like Keisha McDougal, 45.

McDougal is a disabled homeless woman who moved into a Queens shelter with three of her four kids last month after they couldn’t find housing in Brooklyn.

“I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. All the hotels are maxed out. Maybe the other boroughs need to jump in and give Queens a break,” she told the Post.

Maxed out with illegals, to be exact.

“I should get first priority because I’m a goddamn citizen,” McDougal added.

Ocasio-Cortez appears to disagree.

At the town hall, she “said immigration is a plus in the US, noting the population decline in places like Japan because of a lack of immigration,” according to the Post.

“In the United States, the only reason we don’t have that fate is because we’re a country welcoming immigrants. We don’t have the capacity to continue to fund Medicare, Social Security, economic growth, without immigrants. No way to make that work,” she said.

“This is New York City. This is who we have always been. Look around this room. All of us come from somewhere. We can’t close our eyes and pretend those coming here for new opportunities are any different from Italian and Irish Americans coming here in 1910,” the congresswoman added.

Except the Italian and Irish Americans who immigrated to the United States in the early 1990s did so legally.

Also, Social Security and Medicare are approaching insolvency, in part because the government keeps handing out work permits to illegal aliens.

“By handing out work permits to illegal aliens, the [government] is creating an even earlier insolvency of the Social Security Trust Fund. … [Illegals] establish legitimate accounts in the Trust Fund and will be eligible to apply for retirement benefits upon reaching the qualifying age if they have worked the minimum required amount,” the Federation for Immigration Reform reported in 2016.

The point is that the never-ending flow of illegal aliens into the United States is creating a burden on the nation, as exemplified both by the data and the witness accounts coming out of Queens and other stricken communities.

A burden so severe that even Ocasio-Cortez is begging for federal assistance.

“If some states don’t want to do their job on that, that’s fine. But then those federal resources should come to New York City, and those federal dollars should come to places that want to take care of people, and we need that financial support. We are closely monitoring the situation,” she said at Wednesday’s town hall.
