Jasmine Crockett refuses to apologize for cheap shot at wheelchair bound GOP governor

A Squad member’s justification for slighting paralyzed Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) failed scrutiny as receipts decimated her “Hot Wheels” timeline.

It’s often been said that “there’s no such thing as bad publicity,” and it appeared that Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) was out to test the limits of the notion as her name ID is on the rise. As she faces possible censure for her controversial commentary during a Human Rights Campaign speech, the congresswoman claims she was only referring to his illegal alien busing program.

“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition–I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” Crockett shared on social media Tuesday after telling an audience of activists over the weekend, “Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a** mess.”

“Literally, the next line I said was that he was a ‘Hot A** Mess,’ referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition,” she insisted.

“So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump–a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities–are now outraged. Keep that same energy for all people, not just your political adversaries,” the lawmaker added as she attempted to deflect the heat directed at her. “Finally, this is yet another distraction. Instead of obsessing over and hanging on to my every word, maybe my political foes should focus on doing the work of the people who elected us to improve their lives.”

The trouble with her claim was that the disparaging language used by Crockett garnered her approval before Abbott had begun busing aliens out of the Lone Star State to so-called sanctuary cities, successfully driving the border crisis to a more prominent place in corporate media reporting.

In fact, she liked a number of posts on social media referring to Abbott as “Hot Wheels” during the year prior to the busing policy, seemingly disproving her explanation.

Speaking on his own behalf, Abbott joined Fox News’ “Hannity” Tuesday night and told host Sean Hannity, “Well, Sean, this is another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy.”

“They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it. It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red and why Republicans are going to continue to win elections across the country,” added the executive who has remained paralyzed since 1984 when a tree fell on him while he was jogging.

Texas Rep. Randy Weber (R) planned to introduce a resolution to censure her for the comments, referring to them as “discriminatory in nature and… the latest in a continued series of inappropriate comments,” harkening back to Crockett’s remarks directed at Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) during a hearing in May 2024.

During a back and forth that included New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D), wherein Greene slighted Crockett’s “fake eyelashes,” the Texas lawmaker expressed, “If someone on this committee starts talking about somebody’s bleached blonde, bad-built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”
