Jeffries’ Knicks comments spark Trump-related online pile-on

Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries tried to craft a clever dunk on the president, but failed miserably.

President Donald Trump chose to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals, visiting Madison Square Garden to watch the New York Knicks play the San Antonio Spurs. While the Knicks lost 115-111, they are still leading the series 2-1. What should have been a unifying moment of support for an American sports team was used in a desperate attempt to score political points by Jeffries, with embarrassing results.

“So I’ve had a few things to say about Donald Trump going to the Knicks game. You know, at this point, it’s game day, and I think Knicks fans just want to enjoy Game 3, the first home game we’ve had in 27 years. But it’s not clear to me that Donald Trump is a big Knicks fan,” he said.

“He’s just injecting himself into the NBC finals because he always has to bring the MAGA circus into town. And that’s unfortunate,” the minority leader added.

Unfortunately for him, the comments weren’t exactly rallying around his sentiments.
