John F. Kennedy’s grandson and MLK Jr’s family break silence on Trump’s order to open death files

The TDS-suffering grandson of former President John F. Kennedy is not pleased with President Donald Trump’s plans to declassify the JFK documents, and critics don’t understand why.

“The truth is a lot sadder than the myth — a tragedy that didn’t need to happen,” grandson Jack Schlossberg tweeted Thursday. “Not part of an inevitable grand scheme. Declassification is using JFK as a political prop, when he’s not here to punch back. There’s nothing heroic about it.”

The tweet was posted shortly after Trump signed an executive order directing documents related to the assassination of MLK, JFK, and RFK to be publicly released.

“A lot of people were waiting for this . . . for years, for decades,” Trump said while signing his EO. “Everything will be revealed.”

It’s not clear why Schlossberg has taken offense to Trump fulfilling the request of so many Americans who’ve begged for years for the truth to be publicly aired.

And indeed, his tweet prompted quite a bit of pushback on Twitter/X, with critics questioning how he can be so certain that there’s nothing new to learn about his grandfather’s assassination.

Critics also noted that this isn’t a family matter — it’s a matter concerning all Americans.

“With all due respect to the fact that you are family, JFK was OUR president — all of ours,” one critic explained. “We deserve to know the truth just as much as anyone else.”

A number of critics also blamed the Kennedy family’s notorious Trump Derangement Syndrome for Schlossberg’s weird obsession with not wanting the JFK files released.

As for the MLK files, the late civil rights leader’s family has been far more open to their release.

In a message posted to Twitter/X, the family said only that they’d like the chance to personally review the documents first before they’re publicly released.

“For us, the assassination of our father is a deeply personal family loss that we have endured over the last 56 years,” their note reads. “We hope to be provided the opportunity to review the files as a family prior to its public release.”

And then there’s the RFK files. Their tentative release hasn’t attracted as much attention, period, either positive or negative.

Keep in mind none of the documents will be released RIGHT AWAY.

Within 15 days of the date of this order, the Director of National Intelligence and the Attorney General shall, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and the Counsel to the President, present a plan to the President for the full and complete release of records,” Trump’s EO reads.
