Kash Patel joins X for first time ever; Elon Musk leads rousing welcome

President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to head the FBI joined X for the first time and has already amassed more than half a million followers.

Kash Patel, tapped by Trump as the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, shared a post on the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, writing simply, “Hello @X.”

The post on Sunday afternoon has already had more than 14 million views and more than 221,000 “likes.”

Trump’s nomination of Kashyap Pramod Patel sent the left into a spiral as speculation erupted about the imminent firing of current FBI Director Christopher Wray.

“Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending Justice, and protecting the American People,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, noting Patel’s “pivotal role” in “uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax.”

“This FBI will end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the migrant criminal gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the Border. Kash will work under our great Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to bring back Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity to the FBI,” the president-elect added.

The 44-year-old Patel who served in the first Trump administration also reposted a screenshot from the Trump War Room account listing his accomplishments, including serving as chief of staff of the Department of Defense, as deputy director of national intelligence, and as senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council.

“It is the honor of a lifetime to be nominated by President Trump to serve as Director of the FBI. Together, we will restore integrity, accountability, and equal justice to our justice system and return the FBI to its rightful mission: protecting the American people,” Patel wrote in response to Trump’s announcement.

His greeting on X generated more than 29,000 comments with many of them, including X owner Elon Musk, congratulating him on being nominated while others welcomed him to the social media platform.
