Kid Rock explains ‘This Bud’s for You’ hat, and it’s not going over well

Kid Rock appeared on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle “rocking a throwback “This Bud’s for You” hat, which prompted host Laura Ingraham to ask her guest if he had “lightened up on Bud Light?”

Keep in mind, when the Dylan Mulvaney-Bud Light controversy was in its infancy, the iconic rocker helped push it into the stratosphere when he opened fire — literally — on a case of Bud Light at his home in Nashville while shouting, “F*ck Bud Light and f*ck Anheuser-Busch”

Ingraham said, “Now, I see you’re wearing– is that a Budweiser hat? It’s a year ago, right, that you famously posted that video of I think you were shooting some Bud Light cans after the Dylan Mulvaney controversy. So you’ve lightened up on Bud Light?”

Kid Rock, aka Robert Ritchie, responded by downplaying his choice of a lid while making a case for the brewer, saying Anheuser-Busch “messed up” by partnering with the transgender TikTok influencer.

“This is a cool hat,” he said. “I didn’t know what hat I was wearing. We got bigger targets. I mean, when you look at what, Planet Fitness? Like what are they doing? Like, Ben and Jerry’s? I don’t want to put any targets on people’s back. Target?”

“I talked to dudes from Bud Light or Anheuser-Busch, the CEO, the people. Like man, they messed up,” Kid Rock continued. “It’s too bad they just won’t say it, like, ‘Hey, we messed up a little bit,’ you know, whatever, but that’s how they’re cut, and you know, I got my answer. I don’t wanna hurt people’s jobs and stuff like that when they don’t have any dog in the fight, but there’s a whole lot more companies we should be going after for sure.”

Anheuser-Busch’s partnership with Mulvaney cost the company $1.4 billion in sales and its position as America’s best-selling beer. And while they have never come out and owned the disastrous decision, as Kid Rock noted, the company has responded by throwing money at the problem. NFL greats Peyton Manning and Emmitt Smith teamed up in one ad to plug Bud Light. Manning also appeared in a Super Bowl commercial in February with rapper/singer Post Malone.

“I’m here for the three-peat, and stoked to be back with Bud Light for my third Super Bowl commercial,” Malone said at the time. “We created something truly epic and pretty damn funny together that I know the fans will love.”

At the same time, former President Donald Trump was defending Anheuser-Busch, saying Bud Light deserved a “second chance.” Even Kid Rock was seen slamming a Bud Light in August, which rumor suggested was the result of an Anheuser-Busch payoff.

Social media users are having a hard time swallowing Kid Rock’s about-face, given his passion in denouncing Bud Light… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from X:
