Kristi Noem files for divorce after 34 years — months after husband’s secret online life surfaced

Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem filed for divorce after her husband’s scandal dominated headlines.

The ex-Trump administration official was under enough stress managing the Department of Homeland Security when images of Bryon Noem, her husband of 34 years, began circulating on the internet. These unflattering pictures, including those depicting Mr. Noem wearing large, fake breasts and women’s clothes, were posted in an online “bimbofication” fetish community. It didn’t take long for the story to spread, and it was ultimately revealed that he had spent upward of $25,000 in private chatrooms.

Now, according to documents obtained by USA Today, Noem has filed to dissolve the marriage.

“Noem, 54, filed for divorce in Hamlin County, South Dakota, back on April 6, but the court records were not posted online until Sept. 28. According to the divorce filing, the couple has been married since May 23, 1992,” the outlet reported.

Noem’s lawyer confirmed this in a statement to the outlet.

“Kristi Noem has filed for the dissolution of her marriage to Bryon Noem. She has great faith in the South Dakota judicial system and will reserve any further comments for the legal process,” it read.

Those keeping up with the story knew this was likely coming, after Noem’s mother spoke with The Daily Mail in July, revealing that the former secretary had signaled her desire for legal separation.

“I said: ‘What’s the deal? Are you going to get together again?’ And she said: ‘No. No. We’re going to get a divorce,'” Corinne Arnold said.
