Fox News media reporter Howard Kurtz slammed the corporate media Monday afternoon over the lack of coverage of the bombshell Durham report that Donald Trump was spied on both as a candidate and a sitting president in the White House by operatives hired by the Hillary Clinton campaign, a story some are calling the greatest national security scandal in modern history.

“It’s absolutely stunning that virtually all the major newspapers and the other networks are absolutely determined to ignore this story,” Kurtz said, during an appearance on The Story.

“Now, they cover every throat-clearing by the January 6 committee and all the coverage of Russian-Gate that you just gave us a taste of, but this is an actual federal prosecutor delivering actual evidence in a court filing, not some anonymously sourced story,” he explained to host Martha MacCallum. “Yet, these other places are just magically declaring it to be non-news. Doesn’t even get, ‘Well, it’s overblown or it’s unproven.’ Doesn’t get a mention. I thought by today they would come back with some semblance of coverage.”

MSNBC, for example, had made no mention of the Durham report as of Monday evening, Mediaite reported, citing a SnapStream search of the channel.

“You wonder if the momentum builds over time for them to not ignore it,” MacCallum said.

Citing a source familiar with the Durham probe, Fox News reported Monday that the investigation has “accelerated,” and that more people are “cooperating” and coming before the federal grand jury than has previously been reported.

Kash Patel, a senior aide to former U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes, when he chaired the House Intelligence Committee, dropped a bit of a bombshell on Monday saying this is just getting started, and that Special Counsel John Durham “has interviewed 24 people in the grand jury, to include CIA case officers, FBI agents and directors, leadership in the Clinton campaign cycle.”

“There’s some things we don’t know. How much did the Hillary Clinton campaign know about this former lawyer under indictment? No comment at all from camp Hillary on any of this,” Kurtz said.

This being a reference to Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann, who has been charged with making a false statement to a federal agent in trying to convince the FBI that Trump had illegal connections to Russia.

“But I do know this, John Durham has been very low key and careful prosecuting this matter. He hasn’t made any wild or outlandish accusations, he’s under a lot of pressure to do so before the election,” he continued. “So for him to make these charges in court papers is an absolutely significant piece of news, especially given the backdrop. Now, whether it’s worse than Watergate as the former president says — Watergate was a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy — we shall see. ”

“But I don’t understand how any news organization can just wave this away because it doesn’t fit the narrative that Trump was making up the idea he was improperly surveilled or spied upon.”

MacCallum then ran a clip of disgraced former FBI director James Comey to remind viewers that he kicked off the whole Russian collusion hoax — Comey was testifying about leaking the story to the New York Times through “a friend.”

The Fox News host then commented on how there appeared to be a “circular file” between the Clinton campaign, the FBI and the media.

Kurtz noted that it was all unraveling now and that the Durham investigation will continue.

“There will come a point when these other organizations, CNN, ABC, NBC, New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, will have to grapple with this,” he predicted. “And then I bet this storyline will be, ‘Well, conservatives are pushing this.’ But again, it’s in court documents, and that’s a very different standard and actually protects a newspaper organization from libel to report what the prosecutor said. It’s not that difficult. Report what the prosecutor says he found and seeing what the defense says.”
