Hardly contested outside of those suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome was the fact that on July 13, former President Donald Trump came within a hair’s breadth of grievous, and likely fatal, bodily harm from a would-be assassin’s bullet. As many viewed his survival relatively unscathed to be a miracle, the “God Bless the U.S.A.” singer saw even more.

Joining Real America’s Voice host Shemane Nugent, wife of rocker Ted Nugent, Greenwood explained, “You can make a plan, but let me tell ya, Christ has a plan already.”

Having noted, “With faith being a forefront for President Trump’s campaign and my family as well, my wife Kim and I and our two boys Dalton and Parker, we pray at all our meals, we pray at everything that we do about what’s coming tomorrow and the next day.”

“And so we kind of listen, and we listen as hard as we can to the message from God and see exactly what he has planned,” the singer-songwriter laid out. “And I will tell you that after the assassination attempt of President Trump, if you go to the pages of Leviticus and find out that the person that gets blood on his right ear from an injury is then anointed, President Trump will become our next president. I guarantee you that.”

“Wow,” reacted Nugent, “I just got massive goosebumps. And I’ve heard that too. And I’ve read that in Leviticus.”

To her point, others had made a similar reference to the third of the Five Books of Moses, prompting pushback from pastors like Derek Allen from First Baptist Tillman’s Corner in Mobile, Alabama.

Mere days after the assassination attempt, Allen had taken to Facebook in response to a post that presented chapters 8 and 14 of Leviticus where Moses consecrates his brother Aaron and then the law on cleansing those who suffered diseases of the skin.

“I don’t want to be unnecessarily cruel, but this post is way out of bounds. If you are a follower of Christ and have shared any version of this post, please take it down. In the future, please check with a solid, conservative Bible scholar/pastor before posting something like it. There are so many issues with it that I’m not sure where to start.”

While breaking down what was happening in Scripture, Allen noted, “This is a gross mishandling of Scripture. When one small part of something kind of fits something that supports something we want, we run with bad interpretations and applications of Scripture. Those of us who believe the Bible is the infallible and inerrant Word of God often criticize liberal interpretations of Scripture that take the same approach. We have to guard ourselves from letting our emotions take us to such places.”

Earlier this year, Greenwood had partnered with the president as they released special edition “God Bless the USA” Bibles ahead of Easter Sunday.

Trump delivered a video message on Truth Social with the caption, “Happy Holy Week! Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless The USA Bible.”

In the video, the GOP leader said, “This Bible is the King James version and also includes our Founding Fathers documents — yes, the Constitution, which I’m fighting for every single day very hard to keep Americans protected. And also the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence and the Pledge of Allegiance are all part of this ‘God Bless the USA’ Bible.”

“All Americans need a Bible in their home,” continued the president offering the version at $59.99, “and I have many. It’s my favorite book. I’m proud to endorse and encourage you to get this Bible. We must make America pray again.”

While debate over Scriptural interpretations continued, Trump himself continued a more public embrace of faith in the wake of his brush with death. Speaking before Turning Point Faith’s “The Believers Summit” in West Palm Beach, Florida less than two weeks after his injury, the president said, “I’m thrilled to be back with so many proud, hardworking American patriots who believe in faith and family, God and country. Thank you very much.”

“And we want to thank each and every one of the believers in this room for your prayers and your incredible support. I really did appreciate it,” he noted before adding, “Something was working. That we know. Something was working. So, I thank you very much. And I stand before you tonight, thanks to the power of prayer and the grace of Almighty God.”
