Popular conservative commentator and TV/radio host Mark Levin has called for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s ouster on the basis that “he doesn’t reflect the view of the large majority of the [GOP] base.”
Levin offered this take on Tuesday’s edition of his weekday radio show, “The Mark Levin Show,” in response to McConnell’s latest act of perceived treachery.
Earlier Tuesday, McConnell slammed the Republican National Committee for censuring Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, the two Republicans who’ve eagerly participated in the Democrats’ controversial Jan. 6th committee.
He argued that it wasn’t appropriate for them to be “picking and choosing Republicans who ought to be supported.”
“Traditionally, the view of the national party committees is that we support all members of our party regardless of their positions on some issues,” he said.
It would appear this was the last straw for Levin.
Listen to his scorching take by clicking “Mark Levin Audio Rewind – 2/8/22”:
“Mitch McConnell should not be the leader of the Republicans in the Senate. He doesn’t reflect the view of the large majority of the base, and he’s also embracing now Nancy Pelosi, the committee and her tactics,” he said on Tuesday’s podcast.
The reason why, he claimed, is because just like Cheney and Kinzinger, McConnell “hates” former President Donald Trump.
“Mitch McConnell is utterly and completely out of touch. It’s not a righteous man standing up for principle any more than Liz Cheney’s a righteous woman standing up for principle, any more than Adam Kinzinger is a righteous man standing up for principle. They’re egomaniacs. That’s what they are,” according to Levin.
He continued by alleging, via accusations previously made by political writer Peter Schweizer, that McConnell, in particular, has always been about the money.
“Schweizer wrote about Mitch McConnell, on how he became not just a millionaire, but a multi-multi-multi-millionaire through his in-laws and the Communist Chinese and the freighters and all the rest,” he said.
“There’s no investigation of that, not by any Ethics Committee, not by the Department of Justice, because he’s part of the system. Because despite all his mumbling and bumbling and buffoonery, he supports all this. He supports it all.”
Levin further noted that there’s a reason Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, rarely faces the same scorching criticism from the left-wing base.
“You won’t find a left-wing Democrat who has a radio program … condemning Schumer the way I condemn McConnell, because Schumer delivers for his base for the most part,” he said.
“No matter what they say, McConnell delivers nothing. McConnell was one of the bipartisan 19 of my brothers who voted for the infrastructure, and meanwhile most of it is nothing but bridges. But he doesn’t care. He’s been doing this a long time, lying through his his gums.”
Speaking of distorting the truth, during the podcast Levin also pushed back on McConnell’s claim that it’s unseemly for Republicans to target fellow Republicans, noting that if this is true, then the senator is a hypocrite.
“The sleazy left and the sleazy RINOs seem to have a lot in common, don’t they — Mitch McConnell condemning the Republican National Committee for centering Cheney and Kinzinger, when behind the scenes in closed doors, he threatens his own members if they don’t fall in line,” the radio show host said.
Incidentally, former President Trump released a statement the following morning echoing some of the radio show host’s points nearly verbatim, though also predictably including some gripes about the 2020 presidential election.
“Mitch McConnell does not speak for the Republican Party, and does not represent the views of the vast majority of its voters. He did nothing to fight for his constituents and stop the most fraudulent election in American history,” he said.
“And he does nothing to stop t he lawless Biden Administration, the invasion of our Borders, rising Inflation, Unconstitutional mandates, the persecution of political opponents, fact finding on the incompetent Afghanistan withdrawal, the giving away our energy independence, etc., which is all because of the fraudulent election. Instead, he bails out the Radical Left and the RINOs.”

He released another statement later Wednesday evening that seemed less like a rehash of Levin’s points and more like Trump speaking from the heart.
“For the Old Crow Mitch McConnell to say that the RNC should not censure walking Democrat sound bites, Liz Cheney and Cryin’ Adam Kinzinger, is so against what Republicans are about,” he said.
“It’s not as bad as the two-month extension he gave the Democrats when they were ready to fold, but the censure of Cheney and Kinzinger is a good and very appropriate thing to do as it pertains to our great Republican Party!”
