After taking several recent steps forward toward the right, left-wing comedian Bill Maher took one giant step backward by attacking Senate Republicans for the supposed crime of asking Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson tough questions.

In a rant Friday on his HBO program, Maher acted as if Jackson’s status as the first black woman to be nominated to the Supreme Court makes her unimpeachable. The ranting began during his monologue and continued through his panel discussion.

“Ketanji Brown Jackson is going to be our first black woman on the Supreme Court, so that’s going to happen, but wow, to go through this charade,” he began during his monologue.

“I mean, I think the Republicans were still mad about Brett Kavanaugh from 2018. … But Judge Jackson answered questions for 24 hours over two days,” he added.

Listen below:

Speaking of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, his contentious confirmation hearings lasted five days and involved Democrats essentially asking him whether he was a gang rapist. The attacks were so harsh that he broke into angry, exasperated tears.

Jackson also shed tears during her confirmation hearings. But instead of shedding tears over being smeared, she shed tears over Sen. Cory Booker adoringly comparing her to famous runaway slave Harriet Tubman.

Continuing his remarks, Maher then attacked Senate Republicans over their lines of questioning.

“I mean, Josh Hawley … implied she was soft on child porn. Tom Cotton went on about how she was coddling drug dealers. Ted Cruz was badgering about critical race theory,” the left-wing comedian continued.

“Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee actually said, word for word, she said ‘is it your personal hidden agenda to incorporate critical race theory into our legal system?’ … Ted Cruz of course has to be the worst. He asked her, based on this book called ‘Anti-Racist Baby,’ do you think babies are racist, which comes up all the time at the Supreme Court.”

Jackson’s track record does, in fact, show a softness/leniency toward those convicted of possessing child porn and dealing drugs. And it’s an indisputable fact that Jackson’s on the school board of a “woke” Washington, D.C. school that has fully embraced the racial essentialism of critical race theory.

Concluding his monologue, Maher said, stunningly, that babies are indeed racist: “That’s actually kind of true. I mean, not racist the way we would define it, but there is bias.”

It’s not clear what caused him to go from being someone critical of racial essentialism to suddenly embracing it full-bore.

The comedian’s anti-Republican crusade reportedly continued through his customary panel discussion, during which time he inexplicably claimed the modern GOP “would be thrilled” if no black justices were on the Supreme Court.

“I think that today’s Republicans would not do that. I think they would be thrilled to have no black seats on the court. OK, a lot of them,” he said, according to Fox News.

One of his guests, radically far-left MSNBC analyst John Heilemann, concurred, adding that the way Jackson was “treated” during this week’s hearings — being asked tough questions about her confirmed record — was “racist top to bottom through the whole week.”

FYI, a black justice currently sits on the Supreme Court thanks to former Republican President George H.W. Bush, and this justice — Justice Clarence Thomas — happens to be one of the most beloved justices among those on the right.

Conversely, this justice is also one of the most hated justices among those of the left. In fact, members of the left are currently trying to impeach this very same man:

During the panel discussion, Maher reportedly also repeated his gripes about Senate Republicans’ line of questioning.

“[Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Chuck] Grassley came out and said this is not going to be a circus and then the questions started. I mean, the first one should have been, ‘Why aren’t you under arrest?'”  he complained.

“Child pornography and terrorism and everything they could possibly think that had nothing to do with her! So why do we even televise it? Because it’s all for the cameras that they’re doing this.”

Again, the questions pertained to her confirmed track record. As for doing things for the camera, it would appear Democrats — not Republicans — are the experts on that:
