A Maine state lawmaker announced on Monday that, instead of seeking reelection next year, she intends to launch a network of organizations to help other candidates like Sen. Susan Collins win their races.
Maine state Rep. Laurel Libby, a Republican, told the Portland Press Herald that the network will include three legs: a nonprofit organization, a state political action committee, and a communication network.
The political action committee, known as the Lead Maine Committee, will be created in partnership with the Sentinel Action Fund.
You’ve been asking about my plan for 2026 — and here it is!
I will not be seeking re-election to the state legislature. Instead, today I’m announcing Lead Maine, a network of organizations to educate and mobilize grassroots Mainers and build a stronger, more conservative… pic.twitter.com/rgiPOOYQOL

“Maine needs a long-term, durable campaign infrastructure that grows our conservative grassroots movement and sets Republicans up for success in 2026 and beyond,” Libby said in a statement.
“Lead Maine and its affiliated organizations are committed to building exactly that by educating and mobilizing citizens to drive meaningful societal and electoral change at both the state and national levels,” she added.
In a separate statement to Fox News, Libby said her constituents are “frustrated with the challenges our state faces but uncertain how to make a difference.”
“I’m launching Lead Maine to help bridge that gap and empower more Mainers with the tools to shape our state’s direction and ensure we have strong leaders at all levels of government, from the Senate with Susan Collins down to the state and local levels,” she continued.

In a statement of her own, Sentinel Action Fund president Jessica Anderson told Fox News that she’s excited to work with Libby and her new organizations.
“2024 showed us the power and importance of a strong ground game and GOTV operation that communicates with voters early and often,” she said. “With the midterm elections only 350 days away, we’re hitting the ground running in Maine as we announce Sentinel Action Fund’s new partnership with Laurel Libby and the Lead Maine Committee.”
“We are thrilled to work alongside Laurel Libby, who has proven her dedication to standing up to Janet Mills and the radicalized Maine Democrats. She is a true leader for Mainers, and we look forward to a strong partnership to ensure Senator Susan Collins is re-elected in 2026,” she added.
Libby is herself reportedly an expert fundraiser.
“Libby has proven to be a prolific fundraiser, including for conservative PACs such as Fight for Freedom and Dinner Table Action,” according to the Portland Post Herald. “She had already raised $137,000 for next year’s reelection campaign.”
She also has an impressive legislative history. She previously led a statewide effort to institute voter ID requirements and certain restrictions on absentee voting.
She also famously triggered leftist backlash and outrage after she took to social media to complain about a high school boy winning a girls’ track competition.
Recently, the Maine Legislature censured Rep. Laurel Libby for a constitutionally protected social media post about transgender athletes.

The Maine House subsequently censured her, depriving her of the right to vote for/against bills. However, the Supreme Court later restored her voting rights after she filed a lawsuit.
That she was censured for just speaking the truth still resonates with her.
“I understand firsthand just how radical Maine Democrats have become,” she told Fox News. “Protecting this Senate seat and ensuring Senator Collins can continue her work in Washington is important to every freedom-loving Mainer.”
“Lead Maine’s efforts and partnership with Sentinel Action Fund is dedicated to empowering Mainers to use their voices and build a network that will not only support this key race, but will also fill structural gaps in our state as we look beyond 2026. I am excited to lead the charge on the ground and work with our partners to turn Maine solidly red,” she added.
