A gruesome scene played out in Midtown Manhattan where a man apparently jumped off the 750 ft tall Deutsche Bank Center and fell to his death with his body being split in two after hitting the marquee of the ritzy world-class hotel.
The incident took place on Thursday night at around 9:00 p.m. when the individual plunged from the roof of the exclusive “Billionaire’s Row” tower that has been home to such A-list celebrities as rapper Jay-Z, “Sex and the City” actress Cynthia Nixon, supermodel Gisele Bundchen and her former husband, legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
Before his pajama-clad corpse hit the pavement at 60 Columbus Circle, the unidentified man struck the marquee of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, a swanky five-star accommodation that severed his body.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after police and first responders arrived to find the body on the busy New York City sidewalk that was strewn with broken glass and other debris.
“The marquee cut him in half,” said an unnamed building employee at the scene where a severed arm was found across the street “where construction scaffolding was seen dripping with blood,” according to the New York Post. “There were no other injuries and no criminality is suspected at this time, cops said.”
A police officer at the scene described the body as being clad in pajamas, a print t-shirt, and slippers, it is not believed that he was a guest at the Mandarin Oriental which is located on the top 19 floors of the 55-story building “yet is understood to have taken a service elevator to the roof before jumping, police sources revealed,” the Daily Mail reported.
A standard room at the hotel with a view of Central Park can go for upwards of $1,195 a night.
“A stunning fusion of modern design with stylish oriental flair, Mandarin Oriental, New York features elegant guestrooms and suites—all with breathtaking views of Manhattan and Five-Star hospitality,” the hotel states on its website. “Luxurious amenities include MO Lounge, offering an elevated all-day menu with views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline; a 14,500 square-foot Five-Star Mandarin Oriental Spa; and a state-of-the-art fitness center with a 75-foot lap pool. Located in Columbus Circle’s Deutsche Bank Center, Mandarin Oriental, New York is in an idyllic location just steps away from world-class dining, shopping and entertainment, including the Broadway Theaters, Lincoln Center, and The Shops at Columbus Circle.”
Deutsche Bank Center, formerly the Time Warner Center, “features twin 750-foot (230 m) towers, connected by a multi-story atrium. The building has a total floor area of 2.8 million square feet (260,000 m2). It contains office space, residential condominiums, the Mandarin Oriental, New York hotel, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center entertainment venue. The Shops at Columbus Circle shopping mall is placed at the base of the building, with a large Whole Foods Market grocery store on the lower level,” according to Wikipedia.
