Paul Pelosi’s accused attacker, David DePape, appeared in court Wednesday as prosecutors played horrific bodycam footage and the 911 call placed during the violent incident where Pelosi was assaulted with a hammer in his San Francisco home.

A San Francisco police officer named Kyle Cagney who was dispatched to the home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) described in court what he saw as the attack unfolded against her husband Paul Pelosi.
The unhinged suspect was caught on police bodycam video on Oct. 28 when he viciously attacked Pelosi with a hammer. The footage of DePape bludgeoning Pelosi has not been made publicly available and cameras were not allowed in the courtroom.
“Mr. Pelosi was face down on the ground, a pool of blood by his head,” Cagney recounted.
On the body cam footage, one of the officers can be heard yelling, “Whoa! Oh, sh*t!”
Pelosi reportedly called 911 after DePape entered the home. The suspect was allegedly there for Nancy Pelosi but she was in Washington, D.C. at the time. DePape did not attack Paul Pelosi until the police arrived at the residence.

In the clip of the 911 call that was played in court, Paul Pelosi tells the dispatcher, “There’s a gentleman here waiting for my wife to come back, Nancy Pelosi.”
“I don’t know who he is. He’s telling me not to do anything. He’s telling me to put the phone down and do what he says,” Paul Pelosi stated. Another voice can be heard saying, “My name’s David.”
“Prosecutors on Wednesday played an audio recording of the interview that Mr. DePape gave to the police in which he admitted to busting into the Pelosi home in the upscale Pacific Heights neighborhood through a back door, on a mission to capture the House speaker, interrogate her and break her kneecaps if she ‘lied’ to him,” the New York Times reported.
Later, as the police arrived, the violent attack unfolded.

“Among the evidence was body-camera footage of the attack, showing that when the police arrived, Mr. Pelosi and Mr. DePape were standing, each with a hand on a hammer. They appeared calm until an officer told them to drop the tool. That is when Mr. DePape took control of the hammer and lunged at Mr. Pelosi, striking him once, according to the video,” the media outlet continued.
“‘Really hard,’ Mr. Cagney said when asked by a prosecutor to describe the force of the hammer attack. During his testimony, Mr. Cagney showed the court the hammer, measuring more than a foot long, that he said was used to bludgeon Mr. Pelosi,” The New York Times relayed.
DePape is Canadian and is reportedly in the United States illegally. He is also said to be a known drug user and very unstable.

San Francisco police Sgt. Carla Hurley, who interviewed DePape for approximately an hour on the day of the attack, also testified that he said, “There is evil in Washington, what they did went so far beyond the campaign.” He also pointed out that Nancy Pelosi was second in line for the presidency. The suspect allegedly had a list of targets that he was going after besides Nancy Pelosi.
“Mr. DePape said in a police interview hours after the attack that he had other targets, including Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California; the actor Tom Hanks; Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden; and the feminist writer and anthropologist Gayle Rubin, according to testimony on Wednesday,” the New York Times claimed.
The federal indictment against DePape alleges that after he was restrained, officers secured a roll of tape, white rope, a second hammer, a pair of rubber and cloth gloves, and zip ties from the crime scene where officers also observed a broken glass door to the back porch.
DePape is facing a slew of charges including kidnapping, elder abuse, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. If convicted, it is a good bet he will spend the rest of his life in prison for the attack.
He has pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges, including allegations he sought to kidnap Nancy Pelosi.
Meanwhile, DePape’s son is telling a radically different story, according to the Daily Mail.
HEY PAUL PELOSI. Now that you're "on the mend" maybe it's time to RELEASE THE BODY CAM FOOTAGE and 911 call. YOUR FAMILY continues to blame JANUARY SIXTH for the "incident" at your house. MANY do not believe that! Including the alleged attacker's Son, a nice guy! pic.twitter.com/kmsWJSCEba

Nebosvod “Sky” Gonzalez claims his father is not a danger to anyone despite evidence to the contrary.
“He isn’t a danger to society, I don’t even know if he even attacked Mr. Pelosi. For all that we know he was some sort of sex slave, as Elon Musk pointed out,” he told the media outlet in an interview.
“My father had progressive views. He believed in human rights, equality, and justice. He was against the war, he was a peace activist, hardly a right-wing conservative, as he has been branded,” the son asserted.
