‘Oh shut up Col. Sanders!’ Harsh words exchanged between MTG, Chip Roy over failed Tlaib censure

If only Republicans fought Democrats with the same ferocity they reserve for disputes within their own caucus…

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and  Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) went at it hard over Roy voting against Greene’s resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) — the Palestinian-American lawmaker, one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress — has essentially been functioning as the mouthpiece for the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas in the wake of what has proved to be the most savage attack on Jews since the days of Adolf Hitler and The Holocaust.

The outspoken Texas Republican took to X to explain his vote, taking exception to the use of the term “insurrection.”

“Rep. Rashida Tlaib has repeatedly made outrageous remarks toward Israel and the Jewish people,” Roy tweeted. “Her conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress and certainly worthy of condemnation – if not censure. However, tonight’s feckless resolution to censure Tlaib was deeply flawed and made legally and factually unverified claims, including the claim of leading an ‘insurrection’. I voted to table the resolution. In January 2021, the legal term insurrection was stretched and abused by many following the events at the Capitol. We should not continue to perpetuate claims of ‘insurrection’ at the Capitol and we should not abuse the term now.”

Greene was quick to respond to the slight — she backs Donald Trump and Roy is a Ron DeSantis guy, and that animosity was certainly a factor in the brouhaha.

“You voted to kick me out of the freedom caucus, but keep CNN wannabe Ken Buck and vaping groping Lauren Boebert and you voted with the Democrats to protect Terrorist Tlaib. You hate Trump, certified Biden’s election, and could care less about J6 defendants being persecuted,” Greene tweeted.

Mychael Schnell, a reporter for The Hill, shared a response from Roy to Greene’s blast: “Tell her to go chase so-called Jewish space lasers if she wants to spend time on that sort of thing.”

Roy’s dig was in reference to a 2018 Facebook post from Greene in which she suggested a “laser beam or light beam” from “space solar generators” could be to blame for wildfires in California.

Getting even more personal, Greene fired back with this: “Oh shut up Colonel Sanders, you’re not even from Texas, more like the DMV. Chip Roy’s career exist of working for politicians, working for campaigns for politicians, and being a politician himself. Unity Party all the way! Which is why you will never hold anyone accountable.”

The very public spat offers a good indication of the dysfunction at play within the Republican Party and why the simple task of selecting a speaker proved to be so daunting. It’s also a sign of the impact Donald Trump has had on the party.

As seen below, that appeared to be a common theme in the responses seen on X:
