Convicted mass killer Bryan Kohberger has reportedly been throwing temper tantrums about his prison bananas.
“They’re not the kind that he likes,” Chris McDonough, a retired homicide detective who now works with the nonprofit the Cold Case Foundation, told the Daily Mail.
“I’m not sure if that means they may have bruises on them, and he doesn’t like that or if there is a particular type of banana that he likes. But he’s complaining about the food he’s getting,” McDonough added.

Housed at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution, the 31-year-old killer of four college students has earned a track record as a prison “Karen.”
“You can’t make this stuff up, right? The guy is a quadruple killer and he’s complaining about his bananas not being the type that he likes,” McDonough noted.
He added that the prison staff aren’t humoring Kohberger’s bull, saying, “The prison is saying well, deal with it.”
Kohberger last made headlines in August when he reportedly started whining about his fellow inmates’ rough behavior.
“Kohberger – known as inmate number 163214 – was being relentlessly tormented by his new jail-mates when he arrived,” according to the Daily Mail. “They were reportedly shouting through the vents into his cell at all hours and disrupting his sleep.”
At the time, McDonough told the Daily Mail that they were “driving him crazy.” So much so, in fact, that Kohberger filed a formal handwritten complaint one day after his arrival in the housing unit.
“In the complaint, he requested a transfer to another part of the prison citing ‘minute-by-minute verbal threats/harassment’ from other inmates,” the Daily Mail notes. “Days later, he filed another complaint – alleging he was the victim of sexual threats.”

At one point, Kohberger requested a housing hearing so that he could apply for protective custody away from the inmates who were hassling him.
“The three-member corrections housing committee decided that administrative segregation remains the best course for Kohberger ‘for the protection of staff and residents, as well as for his protection,'” the Idaho Statesman reported at the time.
“Kohberger, for now, asked that he continue to have recreation by himself and also be escorted alone. But he also told the committee that he wants to eventually be allowed to work and be productive in prison, and have shared recreation,” the reporting continued.
As previously reported, four University of Idaho students — Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves — were found stabbed to death at their off-campus rented home on Nov. 13th, 2022, in Moscow, Idaho.
Weeks after the murders, Kohberger was arrested in late December of 2022. Three years later, Kohberger agreed to plead guilty in exchange for life in prison without parole, according to a letter sent by Moscow Prosecuting Attorney Bill Thompson to the victims’ families. Kohberger also agreed not to pursue an appeal.
“We cannot fathom the toll that this case has taken on your family,” the letter read, according to the Statesman. “This resolution is our sincere attempt to seek justice for your family.”
“This agreement ensures that the defendant will be convicted, will spend the rest of his life in prison, and will not be able to put you and the other families through the uncertainty of decades of post-conviction appeals,” it continues.
The letter outraged the family of Kaylee Goncalves,

“It’s true! We are beyond furious at the State of Idaho,” the family wrote on Facebook after the letter was published. “They have failed us.”
In an additional Facebook post, the family revealed that they’d told the prosecution that they were staunchly against the prospect of a plea deal for Kohberger. Then, two days later, they received the letter from Thompson.
“We immediately jumped into panic mode and started making phone calls and sending emails,” they explained. “We met with prosecution AGAIN today to reiterate our views on pushing for the death penalty. Unfortunately, all of our efforts did not matter. We DID OUR BEST!”
