A pro-Trump Georgia state senator was pushed to the ground and arrested on Thursday for trying to listen to an address by Gov. Brian Kemp in Georgia’s House Chamber.
The problem for Georgia state Sen. Colton Moore was that he was banned from the House Chamber last year by Georgia state House Speaker Jon Burns.
The ban came after Moore allegedly made “disparaging” remarks about the late Georgia state House Speaker David Ralston.
“At no time in the future will the senator from the 53rd be allowed to come into that room or any property of the Georgia House,” Burns ordered afterward.
Fast-forward to this week, when Burns warned Moore on Tuesday that the ban still remains intact as per his “vile, disparaging, and false comments” about Ralston.
Watch what happened below when Moore tried to enter the House Chamber:

“It has gone too far,” he told the law enforcement officers who blocked his entry into the House Chamber on Thursday. “I have an obligation to be in that room. I represent 200,000 people in northwest Georgia who duly elected me to be here today.”
Moore was subsequently arrested and booked at the Fulton County Jail.
Prior to his arrest, he told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he felt like boxer Manny Pacquiao preparing to walk into the ring.
“I have a constitutional obligation to be there, and if they’re going to arrest me, that’s their problem,” he said. “I told the speaker yesterday in a meeting, I said, ‘Mr. Speaker, I completely respect your authority in telling me that I can’t be a part of a House session. I’ve never tried to come over in a House session. But this is a joint session of the Senate and the House, and your opinion may not override the resolution passed unanimously by both chambers.’”

Moore is famous for waging a war against corrupt Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and trying to get her impeached for indicting President-elect Donald Trump.
“In 2023, Georgia’s Republican Senate Caucus suspended Moore for attacking them for opposing his plan to impeach Willis for indicting Trump in an election interference case,” according to Fox News.
“The Georgia RINOs responded to my call to fight back against the Trump witch hunts by acting like children and throwing me out of the caucus,” Moore wrote on Twitter/X at the time. “But I’m not going anywhere.”
This time around, he’s supported by an impressive cohort of his fellow Republicans.
“I am deeply disappointed that Senator Moore was denied admission and shocked that he was apparently subjected to arrest for attempting to attend the joint session today, after being physically manhandled,” Georgia GOP chair Josh McKoon said. “It was not only legally appropriate to admit him to today’s proceedings — it was simply the right thing to do.”
Update from Senator Moore.
Thank you to all the patriots who have shown their support today. I have a Constitutional duty and will be back in the legislature tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/kyIQXNfr1u

Lt. Gov. Burt Jones concurred.
“All elected 56 senators and 180 representatives deserve the opportunity to fulfill their responsibility to attend joint sessions of the General Assembly,” he said. “There is real work to be done this session and the focus should be on delivering for the people of Georgia instead of personal grievances and egos.”
Bruce LeVell, a former senior adviser to Trump, also defended Moore.
“Colton Moore, a loyal, hardworking, pro-Trump Georgia State Senator, was handcuffed and arrested by the House Speaker after attempting to attend the State of the State session to fulfill his duties,” he tweeted Thursday.
“Previously suspended from the GOP caucus for helping lead the charge to end the corruption of Fani Willis, Moore tried to enter the chamber but was physically blocked from doing so. Law enforcement and guards were stationed outside the door, and when he attempted to proceed, he was wrestled to the ground. @realColtonMoore deserves to be there to fight for his constituents!” he added.
