Tucker Carlson may not like the slogan “America First” — he thinks “it’s loaded” — but he does believe the logic behind it is “common sense stuff” when “young people” can’t afford to buy a house, the country is “literally bankrupt,” and people are “actually complaining” about the soaring cost of “food inflation.”
When all of that happens, he told a Washington D.C. crowd, “you’ve got a huge problem and someone should be responding to that.”
“You can say you care about America, but if you’re sending $100 billion to foreign countries right now, you’re lying,” Carlson wrote on X in response to President Biden’s request for $105 billion in foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel, Gazans, and, perhaps most infuriating, $4.7 billion for what Senator Tom Cotton described as “housing, transportation, and ‘services’ for illegal aliens in the United States rather than deporting them.”

“The border security part is purely designed to make it easier for more people to come here illegitimately,” Carlson said in his speech. “That’s freaking scary.”
People who “aren’t rich,” he said “are legit upset about the price of gas and groceries,” and “now that we’ve drained the strategic petroleum reserve, they’re about to find out that it could get way higher.”
“These are just real concerns,” Carlson stated. “It doesn’t mean they’re the only concerns, but they can’t be completely ignored, or you’re going to have a volatile situation on your hands.”
“Let’s stop lying,” he said, adding that there’s “a lot of truth” in Americans’ “legit grievances.”
“The only way to tamp those grievances down is not by creating some East German surveillance data — comma, which we have done, comma — or throwing people in prison for loitering outside the Capitol, which is their house after all,” Carlson continued. “That doesn’t work long term.”
“Let’s just start with pretending you care,” he suggested. “But you know what doesn’t work? Saying we’re going to spend a hundred billion dollars in other countries.”
“I don’t care how virtuous the case those countries make is,” he said. “And I don’t care how much I personally may agree or disagree with what those countries are doing. That is immaterial. The job — the moral duty — of the people running a country is to look out for the people in that country. Period. That’s always true.”
Every American, he argued, “regardless of political affiliation can feel that something bad’s coming.”
“Abrupt change is coming, and that’s very, very disconcerting,” Carlson said. “And so, rather than reassure people that, you know, we kind of got your back a little bit, ‘By the way, we’re going to spend a hundred billion dollars on other people.'”
He called the White House briefing “a humiliation exercise because it’s administered by the dumbest person in public life” — a reference to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
“So dumb, it’s unbelievable,” he stated. “I’m not being mean. I feel sorry for her.”
“By the way,” he added, “intelligence is not a moral category. My dogs are dumb, and I love them. So, I’m not sort of judging her, but I’m just saying, this is like a mouth-breather, okay? And her whole point of being the White House ‘spokesmoron’ is to tell you that the people in charge have no respect for you, so we’re going to put the dumbest possible person we can up there.”
“She doesn’t know Iran from Innsbruck,” Carlson stated. “She has no idea what she’s talking about… Her shallowness knows no bottom.”
But the real problem, Carlson noted, is that the reporters are “totally taking her seriously.”
He referred to John Kirby, the White House’s spokesperson for the National Security Council, as “the oiliest fake Admiral spokesman who’s ever commanded a ship.”
He “literally can’t run a Boston Whaler,” Carlson said. Worse yet, “he’s a liar and everyone who’s dealt with him knows he’s a liar,” and he is now saying “we got to attack Iran.”
“I have no love for Iran,” Carlson stated, “and I can certainly see why people want to attack Iran. All I’m asking is, just put one person on TV to point out that there are consequences to the United States that may not be entirely positive to doing this.”
But, he noted, “you’re not allowed” to ask that question “because everything is some moral argument.”
“I can’t tell you how disgusted I am by the behavior of people who said they were conservative and cared about the country and clearly don’t, because no one asked that question,” he stated. “They’re all too afraid.”
Then there are the “wackos” on the other side who are “mad at Israel for being white and they want to kill everybody.”
“There should be the America guy in the middle who’s, like, ‘I have strong sympathies here, and, morally, I’m on one side, but I’m an American and I’ve got a ton of kids.,'” Carlson said.
He called the urgings of some lawmakers to accept into the United States refugees from Hamas-controlled Gaza “a betrayal of your country.”
“That’s just telling me everything I need to know about how you feel about the United States of America,” he said. “And I’m disgusted by it.”
“I can promise you that the level of resentment toward those attitudes is extremely high,” Carlson cautioned. “It’s extremely high, and it absolutely should be.”
