Swalwell is latest Dem caught frolicking maskless at posh Miami hotel – and we have pics

Yet another blue-state Democrat has proven the hypocrisy of pandemic restrictions as he was spotted maskless in the “free” state of Florida.

U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., left his locked-down state of California for the freer and sunny vibes in Florida, despite his rantings against Republicans like Gov. Ron DeSantis for having “prolonged” the pandemic.

Much like his Democrat colleague, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who was spotted enjoying her maskless respite in south Florida, Swalwell was seen in photos in the lobby of the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, prompting a scathing rebuke from DeSantis press secretary
Christina Pushaw.

“The 41-year-old was seen in exclusive DailyMail.com photos Tuesday chatting with a female friend at the lobby of the four-star hotel while looking after his infant son,” Daily Mail reported in a story showcasing the photos published exclusively by the outlet.

“Swalwell, who represents parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, appeared dressed for the warm Miami weather, sporting a blush-colored polo, shorts, and boat shoes,” the post continued.

Just last week, Swalwell blasted Republicans in a tweet, claiming they “prolonged” the “deadly pandemic” and forced the closing of schools.

“As we end 2021, mired in a deadly pandemic, you should know who has prolonged it,” Swalwell wrote. “THESE GUYS. Republican liars. Your vacation cancelled. Your kids back to virtual learning. And back to masks everywhere. For blame look no farther than #TheseGuys.”

Pushaw ripped Swalwell in a tweet on Wednesday, calling out his hypocrisy.

“If Swalwell truly believed his own rhetoric about COVID, Florida, and mandates, he would not take his maskless unvaccinated baby to Loews Hotel South Beach during the Omicron case surge in Miami,” she wrote.

“It’s not hypocrisy. It’s hierarchy,” Pushaw added.

Daily Mail noted that Swalwell was eventually recognized in the “posh” Miami hotel lobby.

‘When a guest saw [Swalwell] sitting there with his child and another person they sarcastically said: “Nice to see you in Miami”,’ one eyewitness told DailyMail.com. ‘He said: “Thank you.”‘

But when the hotel guest went on to ask about his lack of face covering and if he was vaccinated, Swalwell was left ‘speechless,’ according to the source.

 

Swalwell’s office responded to the outlet on Wednesday, claiming the congressman has “dozens” of family members in the Sunshine State.

“The Congressman was in the Sunshine State to take official meetings and campaign to help Democrats keep the House,” the statement to Daily Mail read. “He loves Florida and has dozens of family members there. It is lies from unvaccinated Republicans that are prolonging the pandemic.”
