Trump ends his long-running joke about seeking a third term in office

President Donald Trump has decided to end his long-running joke about seeking a third term in office.

Knee-jerk leftists everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief today as Trump has officially brought an end to his speculation on a third presidential term, something that is legally prohibited by the 22nd Amendment. He has repeatedly made references to the possibility, stirring up the ire of his pearl-clutching critics every so often, but on Tuesday, he put the line of trolling to rest while speaking to reporters on Air Force One.

Listen:

“I would say that, if you read it, it’s pretty clear,” the president said. “I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad. I mean, it’s too bad. But we have a lot of great people.”

This comes one day after Trump was asked whether he would “rule out” another presidential run.

“Am I not ruling it out?” he said. “I mean, you’ll have to tell me. All I can tell you is that we have a great group of people, which they don’t.”

Supporters of Trump’s America First agenda have already begun looking for the man who will succeed him once 2028 rolls around. One of the most prominent names being thrown around is Vice President JD Vance, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also receiving heavy consideration.

Meanwhile, on the Democratic Party side, former Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is leading the 2028 pack, with the likes of California Governor Gavin Newsom and former Vice President Kamala Harris falling behind.

“According to a new University of New Hampshire poll, Buttigieg is currently leading the pack at 19%. In second place is California Governor Gavin Newsom with 15%,” BizPac Review reported on Tuesday.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (14%)

Kamala Harris (11%)

Bernie Sanders (8%)

J.B. Pritzker (6%)

Andy Beshear, Amy Klobuchar, Mark Kelly (3%)

Cory Booker, Josh Shapiro (2%)

“All other potential candidates, including Gretchen Whitmer, Wes Moore, and Rahm Emanuel, are polling at 1% or below. The “other” category scored 3% of the vote, and 10% of respondents weren’t sure who they would vote for,” the report continued.

So while Trump’s favorite troll may be over, it’s clear that the left still has quite the uphill battle in front of them when it comes to reestablishing their base of support and picking someone to run in 2028.
