Tucker Carlson says he’ll “help build” a third party that puts America first

Tucker Carlson said that he’s going to help build a third party, although he denied that he intends to run for president as its candidate.

The conservative podcaster recently announced his split from the Republican Party, his longtime political home, out of what he perceives to be indifference to the needs of Americans and a disproportionate focus on what he called “the interests of a foreign country” during an appearance on the June 18 edition of the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast.

“How could I or any American voter support a political party that’s not loyal to the United States? That puts the interests of a foreign country above those of its own citizens. It’s not possible to vote for people like that, and I’m not going to,” Carlson said, making it clear that he has no intention of supporting the Democrats.

In a lengthy, just-published interview with the Columbia Journalism Review, the Iran war critic was asked about whether he would seek to align himself with other anti-war voices.

“I do know what really matters is war and finance. Where does the money come from? Where does it go? And who gets killed?” Carlson said. “And on those questions, the parties are in lockstep solidarity with each other. That’s not a democracy. That’s a one-party state posing as a democracy, and it needs to be broken, and there’s going to be a third party, and I’m going to do everything I can to bring that about.”

“And that’s the lesson of the last two and a half months, to me. If you vote for Trump and you still wind up in a regime-change war—if Chuck Schumer is strongly behind Trump’s foreign policy, which he is—then we need options, or else let’s just give up and be ruled by the most unscrupulous people,” he continued. “And I’m just too young to accept that. We need a third party.”

Asked to elaborate on what he meant by “everything” he can, Carlson expressed his intent to help build an alternative to the existing uniparty system.

“I’m going to help build a third party. There should be a good-faith effort to figure out what benefits the country. I mean, if you make sixty thousand dollars a year, you’re degraded,” he explained. “Your life expectancy has gone down, and the promise of your children’s lives is likely gone. No one seems to care. It’s not even a factor.”

“’What about Hamas?’ I officially don’t care about Hamas. The US government should have, as its first priority, the welfare of its own people,” Carlson added.

When the outlet asked whether he would be the unnamed third party’s candidate, Carlson dismissed the idea.

“I don’t want to be a candidate,” he said.

Carlson’s remarks come after another former ally of President Donald J. Trump also spoke of involvement in helping to get a fledgling third party that speaks to the needs of the forgotten little people off the ground.

Former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene recently told Piers Morgan that she’s in talks with others to launch a “true America-focused” third party.

“There is a group of us that have literally fought the system, and I think there’s a group of us that if we decide to align, we could launch a true America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats and Republicans, but could align some serious players from the right and the left and move forward,” she said.

“I am in talks with people, and there are serious conversations happening, looking at what are the mechanics of that and the reality of it,” MTG told Morgan.
