TX dad ‘justifiably’ shoots two teens allegedly breaking into car with his babies inside

A father in Texas who feared for the well-being of his family shot two teens suspected of trying to rob them.

The incident took place Sunday evening in Harris County, which is where Houston is located. The man was arriving home with his wife and two infant children when two suspects approached their vehicle and attempted to open a rear door, which is where the children were seated, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

“The adult male feared for the safety of his family and fired shots and struck both suspects,” Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a statement. “The wife was driving and drove away after the shooting to get away from the suspects.”

“A car pulled up after the shooting driven by an [unknown] male believed to be with the suspects,” Gonzales added. “Both wounded suspects were taken to hospitals by private vehicles. Both suspects are teens, 16 yrs old. Both are said to be stable & in fair condition.”

Police have opened an investigation into the shooting, but said the father, who they have not identified, was within his rights to open fire.

Last week, in neighboring New Mexico, a brave mom jumped on the hood of her car as an alleged female carjacker sped away with her two young kids inside,

New Mexico librarian Melody Maldonado was captured on traffic cameras clinging to the front of her vehicle in the quest to protect her six-year-old daughter and 11-month-old son.

The suspect had allegedly pushed Maldonado out of the way at a store as she unlocked the driver’s side door, jumping into the vehicle and speeding off with its precious cargo. The young girl was dumped in a residential area before the suspect eventually abandoned the vehicle with the baby still inside.

“She left my daughter on the street because my daughter had a phone and she thought that they were tracking her with the phone,” Maldonado noted.
