A “foolish violation” of the agreement with the U.S. by Iran earned a “warning shot against the bow” as the vice president joined the commander-in-chief in reminding what happens if they’re crossed.
“Well, you’ll find out.”
Friday, in addition to confirmation that Iranian forces had attempted drone strikes against vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, including a hit on a Singapore-flagged cargo ship, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) detailed the American response. Sharing the details from the military, Vice President J.D. Vance issued a statement of his own on how “violence will be met with violence.”
CENTCOM explained that counterstrikes were launched against Iranian missile and drone storage locations as well as coastal radar sites after the violation of the ceasefire “undermined freedom of navigation. As Vance put it, “Iran signed a ceasefire agreement. We have honored it. If they have disagreements about how the MOU is being applied, they can pick up the phone. But violence will be met with violence.”

His statement followed earlier remarks from President Donald Trump, which included a social media post that read, “This Islamic Republic of Iran shot at least four One Way Attack Drones transversing the Strait of Hormuz. One of the Drones solidly hit the upper deck of a large and very expensive Cargo Carrying Ship. Damage was done, but the Ship was able to proceed on its way. We knocked down three other Drones. Obviously, this is a foolish violation of our Ceasefire Agreement.”
Later, as the Religious Liberty Commission met with him in the Oval Office to present their report, the president fielded questions from the press. It was then that he responded to a question as to whether or not Iran would face consequences for violating the ceasefire, “Well, you’ll find out.”
Supporting the notion that the retaliation was meant to be a warning and not intended as signaling the end of the ceasefire agreement, Fox News senior national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin joined Will Cain on his program and described the “strong warning shot across the bow at Iran to get the [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] under control and to stop firing on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.”
She also made the case, “It’s clear this is not a symbolic strike.”
🚨 BREAKING UPDATE: The US military strikes on Iran are ONGOING after Iran launched attack drones at cargo ships in the Strait, per Fox

This begged the question from “The Will Cain Show” host, “So is it your sense then that this is simply a — I don’t know the right analogy to use — but in response to that targeting of that cargo ship, this is basically a slap back in the face, not resuming full-on war against Iran at this stage?”
“I believe that’s the case, Will, based on the conversations that I’ve had,” she replied. “This is to show the Iranian leadership that the U.S. military is still there in the region. We have 50,000 troops. We have two aircraft carrier strike groups. The U.S. military still has the option to resume striking Iran at will.”
Griffin went on to suggest, “what’s clear is there seems to be a breach between the political leadership who signed the MOU and the IRGC leadership.”
“We heard yesterday that CENTCOM was planning to place one of the IRGC commanders in CENTCOM headquarters in Qatar so they could be side-by-side to try to mitigate and stop this kind of activity, because it’s not clear whether it’s sanctioned from above or whether these are isolated cells. But tonight, the U.S. military struck back at these three sites to send a clear message to the Iranians. I don’t think either side wants to restart the war, but it shows the U.S. military can still strike at will,” she further expressed as a senior defense official confirmed to her that strikes targeting Iran Friday night were complete.
